E3 09: One-shots

Our single-take videos capture E3's manic hum

Words: Joe McNeilly, GamesRadar US

At E3 this year, we experimented with a new type of video, what we’ve dubbed the “one-shot.” The idea is simple: to capture as much of the thrill and bustle of the show floor as possible in a single 60 second take, closing with a velvet-rope cameo by a famed developer. Let us know what you think – if you like ‘em, we’ll do moar next year!

I think it'd be cool to take a long exposure shot on your camera at some of the booths, or anywhere crowded, and we can see who was the busiest over a set period of time.

Great concept GR. Considering the majority of your readers don't get the opportunity to visit E3 (I'm generalizing here). Watching the trailers and reading the "Best of E3..." articles doesn't do the justice of actually being able to walk the halls of the convention center.

love the awkward look at the cameraman right after they say hello. like... "ok, we're done here? can we talk about our awesome game now, or do you want us to do more kiddie stuff?" xD

Other than that, i do like the idea of showing us what's up at E3

Cool feature, feels like you're right there minus the BO.

Being at E3 myself, you guys gave an accurate representation of the show floor. I'm just glad that you didn't mash all the videos up into one, speed up the film, and put techno behind it...cause that would be dumb.

Hey that was Major Nelson in that Alan Wake video.

yeah i though i spotted him right before the part where they went into the developer back room place walking towards the camera on the right side of the frame

Final Fantasy XIII wins becasue it did it in the one minute time span.

Supreme Commander 2 fails because it uses cheesey sped up motion. For shame!

I like the concept. With a little better execution it would be really cool.

Good start.
