Devil May Cry 4: PS3 vs Xbox 360

Side-by-side analysis reveals few differences

Words: Mikel Reparaz, GamesRadar US

A couple weeks ago, we ran a preview of Devil May Cry 4 that mentioned offhandedly that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, based on our brief time with them, looked and played identically. Unsurprisingly, this prompted a few readers to crawl slowly out of the woodwork, chanting in arcane rhythms about "framerate" and "processing power" and "memory" and generally calling bullshit on our assertion. Having finally received near-complete versions of the game from Capcom, however, we're ready to answer the doubters with the following video, which compares both the 360 and PS3 versions of the game side by side:

Both videos are taken from the game's first mission, and both were captured in GamesRadar's offices at 720p. As you can see, the differences between them are barely noticeable, if at all. The PS3 version seems to sport slightly darker blacks and slightly crisper textures, but otherwise it's indistinguishable from its 360 rival. We should point out that we used a pre-release copy, so it's possible that the final versions will run differently - but at this point, it looks as though both platforms should deliver the same stylish, demon-massacring experience.
