GamerBlipsOf course the other big no-no in Germany is the mention of Nazism. While it's arguably better to be reminded of the dangers of fascism than pretend it was never there, portraying Nazis or a likeness of Adolf Hitler is deemed to be racial propaganda in Germany.
The main problem seems to involve the swastika, as some games have been granted release after the imagery was removed, even though other Nazi references remain – such as in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.
While a censored version of Return to Castle Wolfenstein was permitted for release in Germany, the original corridor shooter Wolfenstein 3D has never been granted a German release. Look at this video and see if you can spot why.
Perhaps the most interesting point in the German story is that World War II films with Nazi imagery are allowed to be released as they are deemed to be art. Videogames are not. Yes, that old argument.
