360 News from N4G | Assassin's Creed
360 - Assassin's Creed - Assassin's Creed team: Assassin's Creed creative director Patrice Desilets, producer Jade Raymond and technical director Claude Langlais have been discussing the design motives and processes involved when making their new game at Ubisoft Montreal - with Desilets describing the game as "a sports game with swords and free running".

This hybrid concept forms the core of the new game and has meant the development team has had to rethink or rebuild many of its design, production and technical duties - as explained in the cover feature in this month's Develop.

"Our goal is to create a world in which the player can interact with everything with no suspension of disbelief," he Desilets, reasoning: "Place a highly mobile and skilled character in a fully interactive living environment and the possibilities are endless."

Assassin's Creed is going to make you feel harder than Vinnie Jones in a suit of armor when it comes out on PS3 and 360 later this year. Just take a look at these new screens. He swoops in for the kill, smacking one dude in the chops and plunging a knife into the body of another. Well hard. We can't wait for Assassin's Creed to release this year, and if you ... » Read More

360 - Assassin's Creed - Assassin's Creed: Ubisoft breaks the silence After a cold and quite few months everyone's favourite French publisher Ubisoft has decided to break the silence on its Prince of Persia-meets-Hitman adventure Assassins' Creed.

The chatter comes in the latest issue of Xbox World 360 magazine which you can find on the shelves today.

"I think it's safe to say that the Crusades are an area we've wanted to explore for a long time, but we've been waiting for technology to reach a point where we can do it justice," he says.

"We contacted a historian early in the conception phase of development to help us build a foundation of research. We have used the web, documentaries, old medieval encyclopaedias, paintings and novels. The historian helped us with some harder to find information such as original city plans of Jerusalem, Damascus and Acre that date back to the 3rd crusade."

This could also mean other projects based on Ubisoft's videogame line-up, ranging from longer films to TV shows. 360 News from N4G | Assassin's Creed
360 - Assassin's Creed - Assassin's Creed, Fight Night R3 earn effects honors Though it won't be out until later this year, Assassin's Creed is already being honored. The game has been nominated for an award by the Visual Effects Society, the nation's preeminent organizations of effects artists.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Assassin's Creed--or, more appropriately, its trailer--is in the running for two awards: Outstanding Real Time Visuals in a Video Game and Outstanding Pre-Rendered Visuals (i.e. cinematics) in a Video Game. Ubi Montreal staffers Jade Raymond, Nicolas Cantin, Raphael Lacoste, Christophe Martin, Thomas Giroux, and Anne Mai Le Bouyonnec were mentioned by name as potential honorees.

Assassin's Creed's sole competition for the Outstanding Real Time Visuals Award is the PlayStation 3 version of Fight Night Round 3, developed by Electronic Arts' cryptically named Chicago studio, EA Chicago. Sjoholm Christopher, Kat Kelly Hayduk, Hilson Rob, and Jepson Celia were credited with the effects for the punch-fest.
