Xbox Preview | Destroy All Humans! 2
Friday 19 May 2006 Hide the cattle and cover your behind - the aliens are back. Apparently, Cryptosporidium 137's boss, Pox, has been captured by the Russians, so the Furon warrior has to conquer Earth all over again - this time during the free-love movement of the '60s. The biggest and best news about this spoofy actioner is that it has adopted a more free-form, open-world approach. The first game was actually very linear and required each mission to be solved in a certain way. Not so with ...

Xbox Preview | Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Our first real glimpse of Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy was of Luke Skywalker running over pedestrians in a landspeeder. As he thoughtlessly careened around the streets of Mos Eisley, any Lego people who got in his way were reduced to flailing their limbs while lying helplessly on their backs. No wonder those goons in the cantina don't like him. While it still features plenty of the adorable lightsaber-swinging, puzzle-solving, multiple-character-controlling action that made the ...

Xbox Preview | Cars
Lately, we've seen a lot of movie-based games that try to expand on - instead of directly adapt - the story of the film they're based on. The Godfather did it, Over the Hedge did it and this summer, Cars will do it. Picking up where the movie left off, Cars casts players as red stock-car Lightning McQueen and sets them loose to explore the colorful desert town of Radiator Springs. ...

Xbox Preview | Superman Returns
We got a chance to view the new Superman Returns game in all of its primary color-lovin' glory, and that tiny taste leads us to believe that this could be Superman's best console adventure yet. Focusing on the non-linear style of gameplay found in other superhero favorites (like Spider-man 2 and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction), Superman Returns delivers an open Metropolis with a sprawling 80 square miles and over 7,000 ...

Xbox Preview | Reservoir Dogs
"We want to keep you in the Reservoir Dogs experience," says Volatile, the developer of Reservoir Dogs. And it's doing just that by exploring deeper into the events of the Quentin Tarantino hit film. We've been close up to the action, and can report for sure that the game is doing well to echo the flavor and atmosphere. That is, it's swearier than 10 drunken sailors and plenty violent. The demo we were shown gave us an insight into two different levels, and the two separate styles of the game. ...

Xbox Preview | Destroy All Humans! 2
Hide the cattle and cover your behind - the aliens are back. Apparently, his boss Pox has been shot down and captured by the Russians, so now the Furon warrior Cryptosporidium 137 has to conquer the Earth all over again - but this time, amid the free-love movement of the 1960s. The biggest and best news about this spoofy, darkly comic actioner is that it has adopted a more free-form, open-world approach. The first game was actually very linear, and required you to solve each mission a certain ...

Xbox Preview | Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
We've got a lovely two-minute video montage of the Mortal Kombat to literally end all Mortal Kombat games - the forthcoming Armageddon. The brawler ties up loose ends from over a decade of fighting games and brings the series' plot to an end; it's due in October. Midway's giving gamers everything they've ever wanted in the final game: a fighter creator which lets you piece together famous fighting moves into your own personal style, a single-player Konquest mode (which has been shortened and ...

Xbox Preview | Call of Duty 3
Call of Duty 3 was officially confirmed this morning by Activision. The latest chapter in the World War II shooter series is currently in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2 and Xbox. All versions are due to be released this fall. Very little was announced beyond those core details. We do know that the game deals with the Liberation of Paris, which pegs the action in late 1944. That was the final stage of Operation Overlord, better known to many as the ...

Xbox Preview | Just Cause
We'll just get the obvious out of the way - Just Cause is essentially a prettier, slightly more featured version of Grand Theft Auto, sipping an umbrella drink. You've got the massive, open-ended environments, 180 land, sea and air vehicles to play with and countless thugs who all want you dead. So what's the hook? You've got the unofficial backing of the United States and a big ol' tropical playground to blow apart. And ironically enough, it's literally a hook that makes the game move. If you ...
