The meager future software offerings are backed up by the most recent rental numbers from Blockbuster, as of Sunday May 28, 2006. The list was topped off by the PS2's version of X-Men: The Official Game, followed by Over the Hedge on the same system, and finally the Xbox's version of X-Men in the third spot. This was the only Xbox game on the top ten.
Just because a game gets developed specifically for kids doesn't automatically mean that it's going to suck. Similarly, games based on cartoon characters don't have to suck either... but sometimes they do. All of the trademark indications of lameness pervade Over the Hedge, a stamped-out, jog-around 3D platform-jumper. Lousy camera work that you can't control, horrifically repetitive character yelps and claustrophobic, nonsensical level design all work together to drain the pleasure out of what ...
We've been manipulating furry little critters in video games for years, so how come the 3D platforming in Over the Hedge didn't hit us as an exercise in boredom? The short answer: multiplayer. The slightly longer answer: a decent sense of humor.

Over the Hedge takes its characters from an upcoming Dreamworks animated feature (code for "kiddie cartoon") in which a bunch of woodland creatures mount an assault on suburbia.
Activision has snapped up the rights to publish games based on the upcoming DreamWorks film Over the Hedge, a computer animated feature from the makers of Shrek and Madagascar.

Despite releasing several screenshots, there's very little information available about the game, not even which format it will appear on. But as the Madagascar game appeared on every handheld and console, we can most likely expect a similar multiformat release.

As for the film, it has Bruce Willis providing the voice ...
Pavement golf, fairway destruction derbys and remote control street races are all in the offing for players of Over the Hedge, Activision's fast approaching cartoon adventure based on the latest film from DreamWorks - and we've got a video showing these multiplayer minigames in action.

Over the Hedge enables players to take control of the urban-dwelling animal stars - RJ the raccoon, Verne the turtle, Hammy ...
