It's the end of another great year for gamers. Two new systems launched. Two handhelds waged bloody battle. And next gen gaming got a big kick in the pants - thanks to a year of lonely rule by the Xbox 360. PC gaming fought fire with nukes, waging its battle against the console-based onslaught. In short, it ruled.
How do we handle this? We're handing out our gleaming Platinum Chalice to those games and systems which gave us the business. No boring list of 37 different strategy games, divided

After being blown away by DeviantArt user BossLogic’s Street Fighter IV characters remixed to look like they just stepped out of TRON, we took it upon ourselves to do our own. Seriously, EVERY game should have a TRON filter! Picture-Proof inside...
If there's one thing that can get you pumped to play a game, it's a rockin' intro. Even in this age of overblown cinematics and increasingly elaborate plots spiraling into gaming oblivion, there's something about a few guitar licks and a hint of action that get the gamer juices flowing. Ever since consoles started kicking out high quality music and graphics in the early 90s, we've been addicted to the art of the intro.

North Korea is the acceptable face that most developers appear to be using now as home to world-threatening bad guys and Ghost Recon 2 falls in line with that philosophy. It's a squad-based military shooter and Ubi Soft are using the buzzword 'immersion' as the hook to their latest in the Ghost Recon franchise. 'Being there' is the in-place to be and we're promised the chaos of war in the intense battle sequences.

Ubisoft have pencilled in Ghost Recon 2 to be released at the end of November on Xbox and PS2 and when they say that the two iterations of their next Clancy-'em-up will be completely different they actually mean it. We're not simply talking additional levels or expanded weaponry here. Now isn't that refreshing?PS2 duties for developing GR2 fall to Ubisoft's Shanghai studios (previously responsible for PS2 Splinter Cell) and the game's being coded using the Unreal engine, incorporating Havok
This is hardcore. Or so everyone says. But what is "hardcore?" To us gamers, it means the kind of game that serious gamers devote their time to. You know, hundreds of hours of time. The kind of game that kept Granny away from gaming until Wii came along. It's about depth - of learning and understanding a game before truly mastering it. Hardcore games present the greatest (and often longest) challenges, yet also the biggest payoffs, assuming you understand how they work.
Of course,
Electronic Arts have released the first screenshots of GoldenEye: Rogue Agent and you'll notice they centre around Fort Knox - Oddjob being the obvious clue here.EA's latest Bond first-person shooter takes the novel twist of casting the player as a rogue agent, rather than Mr Shaken-not-Stirred himself. That simple change in context should allow for much more foul play on the part of the player. Will we get the chance to kill Bond? Okay, that isn't going to happen but we envisage a game where
Industry rumours this morning suggest that Electronic Arts' next James Bond 007 game may be based on the film GoldenEye. This would mark a return to the 1995 movie that inspired the classic Nintendo 64 title of the same name. While the new GoldenEye reportedly isn't being developed by the team behind the original game, EA must surely be well aware of the classic N64 game's credentials - which, we hope, could influence its next-gen incarnation. However, when probed about the game, Electronic Arts
Electronic Arts have released a slew of new details of their new James Bond game - in which you don't actually play as 007 himself. First-person shooter GoldenEye: Rogue Agent instead sees you play as - yes - a rogue agent, dismissed from MI6 for being a rather brutal chap. Not one to miss an opportunity, Auric Goldfinger (the guy from the film) hires you as his enforcer. As such, you become involved in Goldfinger's spat with Dr No and subsequently lose an eye to the good doctor. Now here's the,
