Oct 24, 2007 Spore will release in roughly six months time, according to its creator Will "The Sims" Wright. "We have the game fully playable at this point and it's in final testing," Wright said yesterday in an interview with Radio 5 Live. Spore is an admittedly ambitious game, essentially a life sim. Players start off as a single-cell organism and then create their species at every stage of its evolution - from its first steps on land through to tribes then a culture and then finally it's

Oct 24, 2007 Tim Schafer has shot down hopes of a new Psychonauts project in response to speculation that such was in the pipeline. Yesterday, gossip kicked off about a potential new game - or the possibility of a Wii version of Psychonauts - following the appearance of a mystery Psychonauts image on the projects section of Double Fine's website that had "Coming Soon" stamped on it. "Man, who knew how much excitement a little darkness could bring?" Schafer told Next Generation when queried

Oct 23, 2007 A whiff of something new happening in the world of Tim Schafer's cult-classic Psychonauts is in the air. Schafer's studio, Double Fine, has sparked speculation by publishing an image in the Projects section of its website. Spotted by eagle-eyed web surfers, it's a semi-blacked out Psychonauts picture with the words "Coming Soon" stamped on top of it. Is it a sequel? Is the image just a cheeky place-holder? Well, it's widely thought that it may well turn out to be a Wii version

Oct 22, 2007 The hard part's over. You've finished every mission. You've collected every power up. You've beaten every boss. You've saved the world and probably a few princesses to boot. Now all you want is your reward - some long awaited, richly deserved resolution. You won't find it here. No, these seven games have that other kind of ending. The kind that mocks you, disappoints you, angers you and just plain baffles you all at once. The kind that answers nothing but adds a maddening amount

Mass Effect News | Previews | Screens In this interview, Seth Green insightfully points out that Mass Effect is "like a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book." His commentary is uncharacteristically drab, more akin to a cliche-slinging PR drone than a comedic genius. Though his games editorial skills may not have been their sharpest the day the interview was conducted, we'd still hire him in a second. And, we're dying to play his hip-hop RPG "Play the Industry," which will certainly be heckled here

Oct 18, 2007 According to the Entertainment Software Association's 2006 report, 38 percent of gamers are females. These numbers are down from 2005, when the fairer sex reportedly accounted for 43 percent of the pie. It seems that gaming continues to be a mostly male affair, so what's the best way to penetrate this demographic? Judging by the sex-filled ads we've seen over the years, it looks like the best way to a young man's wallet has - and always will be - through his pants. Read on and

Oct 17, 2007 The 25th annual Golden Joystick Awards are almost ready to be announced, but there's still time to vote if you haven't already done so. Why are they so important? Because they're voted for by the people who matter most. You. That's right, this is all about the games that gamers love and by voting you're giving the people who make your favourite games the recognition they deserve. That's why most developers feel the awards are the most important in the industry. To whet your

Oct 16, 2007 Ever find yourself rooting for the bad guy? After all, even the best old-lady-helping, cat-saving gameplay would likely get dull if you did nothing else. And so many cultural icons are interesting because they stray from the straight and narrow once in a while. For instance, we'd argue Han SoloLuke Skywalker. Dick Dastardly and MuttleyPenelope Pitstop. Sin City's MarvSpider-Man. And if you ever find yourself cheering on the more interesting characters, you'll be right at home here

Oct 12, 2007 We've been following the work of director/animator, Monty Oum closely since we first saw Master Chief clash with Samus in Haloid. So we were pleased to see his latest stab at girl-on-girl fantasy fighting today in his latest short film, Dead Fantasy 1. Scroll on down to see Dead or Alive's Kasumi and Ayane get it on with Final Fantasy's Yuna and Rikku. We won't spoil the two surprises that follow before the short film's cliff hanger ending. While Haloid still looks great to us,
