Then there's the whole issue of what the game is saying. Tired plots about tracking down terrorists are to be expected, especially now, but when a game developed for the Army portrays that force as nearly invincible, the combat becomes even less convincing. Since your men only die when there's no one to whisk them to a reviving medivac, the game has no facility for dealing with casualties. Are we really supposed to believe the Army can take over foreign urban sprawl without a loss? That's not what the news says. Full Spectrum Warrior claims realism, then proceeds to create a conflicting fantasy world of military might.
Hopefully the flaws and questions aren't so glaring that you can't take the game as merely an evolution of action and strategy. This is an intriguing new template, and future games in the same style could be incredible. That potential doesn't help much now, but this unique first step is at least worth a look.
