E3 2004: Weird Drivatar technology aims to set Microsoft Game Studios' Xbox racer apart - shots and details here

On: Xbox - OUT: Winter 2005

THE PITCH: A racing game built around revolutionary "Drivatar" technology and extensive car customisation, designed and built with Xbox Live in mind.

KEY FEATURES

  • "Drivatar" technology allows you to train your own AI Drivatars (Driving Avatar, you see) to mimic your own distinctive driving style. They can then represent you in races or, bizarrely, train further Drivatars in the mysteries of your oh-so-special techniques.
  • Models from over 60 manufactures, including Mazda, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, and Dodge.
  • Extensive modding options taking in real-world body kits, rims, spoilers, decals, side skirts, fender flares, hood scoops and more.
  • Tuning and performance options include alternative engines, suspension kits, bolt-on superchargers, brakes, rims, racing slicks and more. You can also fine-tune gear ratios, fuel-mapping, forced induction pressure, tire temperature and pressure and ignition timing.
  • THE BUZZ: Well, it's a racing game, isn't it? With so many high-quality racers around Forza will need to rip up the track to stand out. Early glimpses at the pre-show were promising without being overwhelming. We'll have to reserve judgement until we see how she handles.
