Why do we find Maria so disturbing? Is it that she suffers a horrible, gruesome execution, right before our eyes, no less than three times? Or that she always manages to rise from the grave with zero explanation? Is it that she symbolizes a psychological reincarnation of our character's long dead wife? Or that she symbolizes a perverse and sexualized reincarnation of our character's long dead wife? Is it that she resembles a zombified Cameron Diaz? Or that, lord help us, we're still sort of attracted to a zombified Cameron Diaz?
