QOTW: What game are you most ashamed you never beat?

Answer our weekly question and check out our favorite user answers from last week!

Words: GamesRadar US

Every week the hosts of TalkRadar present and answer a new "Question of the Week" - a personal inquiry which unearths some of our deepest, and sometimes most sinister, gaming memories. Everyone is encouraged to answer each week's question, so go ahead, tell us your most glorious, nostalgic, or shameful story!

This week's question:

What game are you most ashamed
you never beat?

Sure you played it, you just got...distracted, and then you moved on. So what if it is a classic? It's not your fault the final boss was so cheap! You'll get back to it one of these days...

Answer this week's question in the comments!

Questions can also be answered in the QOTW forum thread. Our favorite posts this week will be read next week on TalkRadar 53, and appear in the next edition of this article. Listen to TalkRadar 52 tomorrow for our answers!

Last week's question:

What game do you always go back to?

Wow! We had a ton of replies to last week's question. Thank you to everyone who participated.

We saw a lot of Half-Life mods in the comments (Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat), which is understandable, because those are addictive as hell (as our own Chris Antista will testify). There were also tons of great classics and obscure titles, which for one reason or another, stuck with you (we love to see love for the 8-bit).

Of course, it wasn't all old school - Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Mass Effect, and Elder Scrolls were mentioned a several times. At least a couple of us in the office have been glued to Mass Effect on and off for the past year. Oh, and GR's own Justin Towell reminded us of his affinity for Christmas NiGHTS, which we will commence making fun of him for.

Below are a few of last week's answers that tickled our collective fancies, but since we can't feature them all here, check out last week's article and forum thread for more...

For me it's A Link to the Past. I got so close when I was a kid, and then never beat it. And then my mom beat it and I lost interest. I've tried to go back and replay it on emulators... I absolutely love the game, but I've just never finished it. Guess something always comes up.

i am ashamed to say that i have never been able to beat the GBA version of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. it makes really mad. it took me 2 years to finish Soras mode, and once i hit Rikus, i just couldn't take it anymore. i'm hoping to redeem myself with the RE game for PS2.

I personally have never finished Final Fantasy VII, i've watched many friends and relatives complete it but never me, which is odd as I have Cloud and Sepiroth statues staring at me currently. I never could beat that stupid angel thing version of Sepiroth. Other than that probably Ninja Gaiden II although i cant play that game for more than an hour as ill probably punch a whole in the wall, stupid three bosses in a row bullshit.

Spyro the Dragon, I got the game about a week after it came out, I started to play it, got really into it, then, a month later, Metal Gear Solid came out, I forgot all about little Spyro and focused all my attention on Snake, and while I was focused on Snake, my little brother, thinking that the Spyro disc was a little frisbee, took it outside to play, he threw the disc to his friend, his friend missed, and Spyro found his way into the Schuylkill River. I'm ashamed that i never went back to take down Gnasty Gnorc, Spyro is currently stuck on my PS1 memory card in Beast Makers, and the dragons are still frozen, where I left them.

Super Mario Bros 2. I didn't like the game much, but I remember getting to the final boss, dying, never playing it again, and losing the game sometime later... Now I know that if I want to beat it, I have to go through all that crap again...

It would have to be Shadow of Colossus. Is the last game I played on my ps2. Got half way through it then got a 360 for Christmas. Haven't touched it since. Its a shame cuz it was a great game. Now that the next ICO game is coming I may get motivation to set my ps2 back up and finally beat it.

Mine is the entire Final Fantasy series. I played them all but beat NONE of them with the exception of I, II, and III(I don't really count them or acknowledge their existance, to me the series really started with IV). I've gotten to the final boss in IV, VI, and X, but never got past them. Right now, I'm playing IV again so I can finally beat the damn thing.

I have never beaten "Lose The Game"......DAMN! I just lost again!

Bioshock. Sort of. Everytime i start a new game (about 7 times) i move on to another game and lose track of the story and stuff in Bioshock, so i go back to it. I'm gonna set a weekend for Bioshock only now i've finished college...

-_-'' Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3.
I got somewhere around 50 hours through the game, with all those relationships and personas built...And I just quit playing the game.
I adore the game and all, But about a week after I purchased it, I got my Ps3 :(.
If only Sony would have kept making them backwards compatible.

Okami was my downfall. I enjoyed every second, it was creative and clever and unique and fun, and then I beat the boss. Leading me straight onto another set of samey missions. Should have persevered, but never did. Sigh.
thor231  - 6 months 9 days ago
Final Fantasy I-VI. I seem to play right up to the final boss, then quit out of frustration. I probably just need to level up more. I'm about level 80 or so in the DS version of FFIV, so I think I could beat the boss now... maybe.
Xtapolapopotamus  - 6 months 9 days ago
Hm... I would say any of the numbered Final Fantasy games (except 1) but I'm not really ashamed of that. They always lose my interest at the end.

However, if I had to pick just one, it would be Final Fantasy 6. That game is amazing, and I'm so very near the end... I just can't bring myself to do it. Something about going around and killing the dragons and the last bit of housecleaning before being able to face off against Kefka just puts me off.

GTA:San Andreas.
I must have clocked in more than 500 hours (literally!) on that game. mostly doing missions aswell. and completing them! and collecting the best vehicles. but when I had to go back to those terrible gang missions after doing decent missions, I just stopped doing the main missions. If it wasn't for the gang and territory missions, SA would have been my favourite game. but, they spoiled it, so it's 6th in my list. if SA Stories comes out, I hope to god that gangs are out. it's the same reason i prefferred VC, 4 and LCS
