Driver: Parallel Lines

Also known as: Driver Parallel Lines [UK]

Fight your way to the top in New York, past and present

While Parallel Lines is a decent offering, it feels very much like a watered-down Grand Theft Auto, with a more linear storyline and fewer random fun things to do outside of missions. The differences between the Xbox and PS2 versions come down - as they usually do - to graphics and control; the Xbox has slightly prettier visuals and uses the controller triggers to accelerate and brake, while the PS2 version uses the face buttons. If you’ve played GTA and want something new, give Parallel Lines a try, but if you want a fun, in-depth gaming experience, you’re better off finding a copy of GTA: San Andreas.

You'll love
  • Cinemas are gorgeous
  • Missions are entertaining
  • Cars show realistic-looking damage
You'll hate
  • The police are annoying
  • Driving between missions is boring
  • Environments are drab
