There is little reason for them to make another console. Better graphics are nice but 300 dollars is something I'm not willing to pay, which is kind of the reason I don't PC game all that much. Make one system for the entirety then after about a decade or so make another one. People keep talking about how that new Watch Dogs can't be on the current system because of how good it looks. I could have said the same thing about GTA IV and then again about Crysis 2. Oh wait, Crysis 3 is coming out and it looks better than the game before! I see no reason that they should make another system. Upgrade the Kinect? Fine. I don't use it at all so why should I be forced to buy something I don't want to get an awesome game? If they do decide to make another console, I may just cut console gaming out of my life for good and just keep upgrading a decked out PC till I am crotchety and start saying to my great grandkids about the time before WW5 when gaming was still done with out minds or something else totally outlandish.

The 360 launched back in 2005 and according to these rumours the new one will appear in 2013 at the earliest making this the longest console cycle of all time. Following the kind of mindset in your post we would still be playing on the NES just because the games improved with the years. Think about it this way: If the games look good now, think about how they'll look on the next system. The PS2 wasn't abandoned on PS3's launch and the DS just got an awesome Pokemon game so it's not like you have to buy the new consoles immediately :)
  • robotdickens - June 17, 2012 4:14 a.m.

Well awesome consoles would have been saved while shitty ones were put where they belonged (NES was great, I am in no way calling it shit, this is for the here and now). What I'm talking about is the mass online for gaming now. During 11/11/11 when Skyrim was released, massive amounts of patching and updating occurred due to Bethesda's insanely awesome practices of keeping good games good and possibly making them better. Skyrim is awesome but when first released was plagued with bugs. Now, the game is more polished and most of the bugs have been removed as well as adding new (and useful) things to the free updates like the newest mounted combat. What I'm talking about is constant updating. Every so often, the 360 has received updates. Three of which drastically changed the look and layout of the console itself, starting from the "file folder" when you first bought the 360, now to the slightly more internet-y update of now. If they updated gaming systems, there would be little need for us to buy another console for massively over priced stuff ie. PS3's release price of 600 and the 3DS aka the first handheld device to hit 300. If they made consoles more like PCs (I am not a PC gamer nor do I condone people who say PC gaming is better) in which you could more or less easily swap out the standard parts for better ones ie. new graphics cards and such. This would be otherwise slightly difficult but you can see where I'm going with this. Instead of buying a 300 dollar box of wires only to have to buy another one a couple of years later because they decided not to keep the good going, I would simply switch out my outdated card for something better at a much cheaper price than a new console. This way, I can keep my console for about 20 years till the newest console comes out which is leagues more powerful and better and the cycle continues. My point being that we as gamers aren't rich people and don't like it when a thing is released, we buy it only to find out the price has dropped significantly or that a new one is coming out just around the corner. You don't believe me still? Well when did the 3DS come out? 2011. Oh wait, there is a rumor that a newer more different "4DS" is coming out. These rumors have not been said true but if they are, then I wasted 160 bucks on something that will become obsolete soon. As a gamer, I expect more bang for my buck. If I'm going to shell out my hard earned cash then I better be paid back in full. It's sad to see the Wii never really launched off and its kind of messed up/awesome that a new one is coming out. Awesome that it is basically a better Wii and messed up because the Wii U should have come out first because then we would have the awesome games the Wii U will have instead of the stuff that the Wii had.

It was a bit hard for me to tell what point you were trying to get across. No offense, but you should paragraph and separate idea's. As for gamers not being able to afford it, I doubt that. Sixty bucks a pop new is quite a bit, and even if it was used, I doubt "most" gamers wait until games drop down to 20 dollars a game. To be frank, gaming is one of the most expensive hobbies of entertainment ever, just the idea of having a system, television, and games obviously infers that your ahead of the game in my opinion, but I'm talking about what I think the majority is although. One another note, I think I may have found your account on Raptr as well, and by the amount of games you have, I doubt buying a new console would be a problem from what I see. Also, by the amount of PC games you play, I would indeed say that you play the PC quite a lot. As for the consoles becoming obsolete, it's been seven and a half years since the xbox 360 was released, so how is that wasted money? That's seven years of games made for your system in the majority. If it's one thing consoles do, it's keep gaming less expensive. I want to talk on this matter more with you, feel free to tell me if I said anything that's incorrect or you disagree with. I'll await your reply, John. Is that right?
  • robotdickens - June 17, 2012 12:42 p.m.

Ya sorry, kinda got caught up in the moment. Yes that is my name and yes you found my Raptr account. If you would look at the specs on those PC games, you'll see they are within my range of having a 3 gig of RAM and par to sub par video card. Also, just about all of those games are on Steam so I can delete them then reinstall them later with no consequence. The reason I don't play a lot of PC games is because my computer can't handle it. On the other hand, the reason I don't use that many 360 games is because I'm kind of poor. Yes I can afford to buy a game for about 60 bucks every now and again but sometimes buying an entirely new piece of hardware is just out of the question. I had a Xbox for the longest time and when the 360 rolled around I was happy they let me use my original games on it. Right now, the most expensive things I'm looking to buy are either a new PC or the Wii U. I was saddened to hear that the Wii U doesn't support Gamecube games. They said they may put them for on demand (or whatever the Nintendo equivalent is) but that is a may for them. I don't mind buying a new system, I just think its really messed up how they will just discontinue making games for their previous system. Kinda like with the PS2. Say what you will about outdated stuff but there were some good PS2 games even by today's standards. Its also messed up that a lot of those great games can't be played on the PS3 without buying them from the store if they are actually there. Which makes me ask, will all of the games/content I purchased on LIVE be turned over to the new console? I bought two different games on LIVE and tried to get them back a while later and for some reason they were not even there, so that's about 40 bucks I won't get back. If they make all my stuff able to be transferred to the next console, ya I'll be happy. But chances are that isn't going to happen. Personally I don't understand why they don't just copy Steam's idea and have it so you can always download your games at any given time.
  • robotdickens - June 17, 2012 12:45 p.m.

Lol I don't think he like hacked my account. There's a reason I use "robotdickens" with most of my accounts. I posted something about how I would get a Raptr account on this website with this same username so I don't think that's private knowledge. Also, my gamertag is has my first and last name in it and I'm too lazy to change it and it's linked up to my Raptr account so people can see it. No big deal I say.
  • sam80jr - June 17, 2012 1:41 p.m.

i know he didnt hack your account, im saying the fact that he spent that much time looking into who you are just over a single post on an IGN forum is ridiculous. just like that example i used with wendy, technically nothing there is illegal or "private" data, its just creepy that someone would do all that. he must really dig you based off your one paragraph cause he put alot of effort into researching ur tits off
  • DickSingh666 - June 17, 2012 4:37 p.m.

that, made my fu***** day LOL
  • ParagonT - June 17, 2012 8:06 p.m.

It's better to be informed, anyways it seemed to have cut down on a lot of time spent to ask him all these questions when people voluntarily leave it all over the internet. I'm sorry if you guys thought it came off creepy, but that's fine, I don't really care. To be frank, I would rather look up information about a response and become knowledgeable about it and respond than to be ignorant. It's not really creepy if you post your information on the internet, its just like looking up any other thing I think. As for it being creepy, for someone who doesn't understand the internet and are mature about it, it could be. I on the other hand doesn't really think so. For instance, if I make my facebook information public, why should I hate or fear people who look at it? Thats the whole point of it. So I think your just not mature enough to understand yet. Also, I just plugged your username in as well, and you play Unreal Tournament 3? And it might be you that registered on myfitness.
  • ParagonT - June 17, 2012 8:12 p.m.

Want a low down on how much time it took? Yahoo-His username-done. It's not rocket science you know. Also, this isn't IGN, do you know where you are? Call it creepy if you want lol, I think it's funny.
  • Person5 - June 17, 2012 9:06 p.m.

Also Mr. Dickens, or "John" as Paragon has pointed out, what you described, the upgrading of consoles with new graphics cards and the like, you described PC gaming. That is exactly what you did, get a PC and upgrade it as the years go buy, no one buys PC's and replaces them every other year (unless they own an Apple device) they will buy new graphics cards and processors and upgrade their rigs. Its less expensive in the long run, and if this is how you feel just switch to PC gaming if you really are displeased with a new console coming out. Disclaimer: I am a PC gamer as well as console, I have no bias either way, except that I prefer new games on my Xbox.
  • yonderTheGreat - June 17, 2012 10 p.m.

paragraphs dude. Learn how to use them.
  • Paragon J - June 17, 2012 10:23 p.m.

T, how many times have I told you that we aren't allowed to use that sort of information? Since the government started following you back in the EGR days you haven't had the luxury of internet creeping. You shouldn't be taking such risks on someone like this, there are much better uses of your time than John. BTW John, your new furniture looks great from your front yard, at first I didn't think it was going to match the drapes well enough but you proved me wrong! ANYWAY, T, I know you like dilly dallying here on gamesradar but I think we should get back to work. We still have to track that guy down and turn him over to the parole officers. Plus, I want to get some Halo in before next weekend.
  • ParagonT - June 17, 2012 10:29 p.m.

Oh God... what have you done??!
  • Moondoggie1157 - June 18, 2012 6:10 p.m.

IGN? Seriously? Is it just me, or has this site attracted some really "special" visitors these past few months...
  • Cyberninja - June 19, 2012 10:38 a.m.

3DS launched at $250 not $300, nor is it the first handheld to hit $300, that was the NEC TurboExpress in 1990. also in the case of the 4DS its not going to be launched soon like with 3DS it started being made after the DS lite was released.
  • mothy77 - June 17, 2012 1:43 a.m.

Try downloading the document from Scribd and you get a notice saying "This content was removed at the request of Covington & Burling LLP" This adds legitimacy to some of the document's claims, methinks. I'm not so sure about that price - it might be for the rumoured 'lite' version of the console. I think it will launch for at least £299 in the UK, maybe more.
  • Shinn - June 16, 2012 10:42 p.m.

Streaming games from a cloud completely eliminates smaller countries like New Zealand from the equation. It's surprising that the world still hasn't realised that we're years behind in things like telecommunications technology. Are we really that unknown?
  • CrashmanX - June 16, 2012 11:34 p.m.

Unfortunately yes. If you don't have a decent internet connection it seems the world really doesn't care about you. Hell even here in the middle of the US we get shit internet usually. Only until a few months ago we had 3MB internet max around here. We live in a decent sized town just outside of St. Louis Missouri. Sadly no one is really paying attention to the need of upgrading the telecom systems of the world.
  • jmcgrotty - June 17, 2012 7:01 a.m.

June 14, 2012: President Obama signs an executive order to create a working group, the "Broadband Deployment on Federal Property" group, in order to address the need to spread broadband wider across federal properties. The intent is to make a requirement on spreading broadband across all the properties, which is 30% of the U.S., and which by default, would bring broadband pretty much corner to corner of the United States. At the same time was announced a new public-private partership called U.S. Ignite, designed to propagate the spread further. And that is just the U.S., and only 2 examples of many. That doesn't mean it will end up happening. But people ARE "paying attention to the need of upgrading the telecom systems of the world."
  • EwoksTasteLikeChicken - June 16, 2012 10:28 p.m.

Smart of them to put a $300 price, although I'd hope that it would have a lot of memory...unless it won't even have memory, you'll be forced to have an internet connection and save over the cloud. I really hope that's not it though.
  • ObliqueZombie - June 16, 2012 9:44 p.m.

Edit mistake: "... but we've ceased to be amazed* by the Internet's ridiculousness." And if this is true, well, I'm not sure how I feel about it. Until I see the hardware specs and what they're capable of, I won't even think of putting a penny down on it.
  • Hobogonigal - June 16, 2012 8:46 p.m.

Looks interesting. I would like to know more about the whole 3D thing though. If anyone can see it from anywhere in the room, that would be amazing. I won't count my chickens before they hatch though, this could in the end be a fake.
  • IcarusLeonardo - June 16, 2012 8:42 p.m.

It would be a lot better for the cunts to hold out on the next 'gen' consoles. The current gen consoles still hold about three/four years on them.
