James Steel writes
"No matter which version of the game you play though, what remains the same is the characterisation of the Worms themselves. You have the ability to change their appearance and voices as you blast away the other team with such weapons as the standard issue Bazooka, to the more elaborate special weapons such as the Super Sheep!

Speaking of the Super Sheep, GameOn Stuff have collaborated with Team 17 to offer Worms plush toys!"

*imitates squeaky voice* INCOMING! If you recognise that iconic word with accompanying silly voice, you've probably at some point played Worms, the hugely successful strategic bombardment game that has been in our lives for 15 years now. The series has seen a number of different iterations over the years and has graced practically every console that has been released at some point. Millions of people have thrown exploding sheep and banana bombs at their opponents, revelling in the joy of blowing the enemy worms to smithereens. The widespread popularity of this franchise has now prompted Team17, the brains behind Worms, to offer the franchise up for licensing opportunities. If you don't know what that means, don't worry, I'm here to tell you. It simply means Worms is now licensed to appear on a wide variety of merchandise and other companies can use the Worms brand name in order to produce things outside of the videogame.

JI writes: Worms is a beloved serious that gamers worldwide have enjoyed since the Amiga and the PC and has now found its way to just about every corner of the market from consoles, handhelds, to mobile phones, smartphones, and I think I even saw some one playing it on a tomagachi once! After successfully making its presence known on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, Apple's App Store, and Steam for PC, Worms has been revived. Team17 Software may tell us don't call it a comeback, I never left, and indeed we have never been without a great Worms title. Today word has come that Worms will be on the market for licensees through AT New Media for expanding the market of Worms products beyond just video games.

GameSpot writes: It's been a while since Microsoft last branded an Xbox Live Arcade title an Arcade Hit. However, if the publisher's own Web site is to be believed, it appears as if a trio of long-standing XBLA titles is poised to be added to the discount program. With Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe out next week, Microsoft will be giving 360 gamers a cut rate on Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The online-enabled arcade fighter garnered solid reviews when it scrapped its way onto Microsoft's online platform in October 2006. Joining Midway's fighter will be Team 17's over-the-top annelid arms race Worms, as well as Oberon Media's casual action title Feeding Frenzy.
