Now 15 years old, The Sonic series appears to be having a typical teenage personality crisis. His 360 debut starts out cheerfully enough, with the opening level (the Kingdom Valley, similar in appearance to the Aquatic Ruin Zone from Sonic 2) being standard Sonic fair.

When we were 15 years old we were too busy trying to look down girls' tops and drinking cider to star in a videogame. Teen star Sonic The Hedgehog, however, has found time to celebrate his 15th birthday by making a spectacular leap to Xbox 360.
The watchword for a re-invigorated Sonic is 'speed' - raw, eye-melting speed of the sort that wowed us game wrinklies back in the days when the eponymous hedgehog was still years from breaking out of two dimensions.

The last few Sonic games have veered completely off course - they pack in too many characters to play, none of which are a great deal of fun. This new title trims back the exploration and large cast for a simple, fast-paced race through intricately detailed environments.
