Speaking to VG247 at Develop today, Bizarre Creations head Sarah Chudley said that Activision, and not Microsoft, bought the Gotham developer as Microsoft's internal structure probably wasn't in the right place to buy things at the time.

Competing against more than 700 gamers from a record 74 countries, the United States overcame the toughest competition in World Cyber Games (WCG) history to capture three gold medals, two silver medals, and a bronze medal in twelve PC and Xbox 360 titles, and won the overall team championship at the Grand Final in Seattle. It is the United States' second team title and first since the 2005 WCG Grand Final in Singapore. Team USA captured gold medals in Tony Hawk Project 8, Gears of War, and Dead Or Alive 4. South Korea and Brazil each earned two gold medals while Germany had one gold, one silver and three bronze. The seven-year-old WCG competition, which started in South Korea, has been dominated by South Koreans and Germans since its inception. So far South Korea has won three Grand Finals including last year's. According to organizers, WCG is the largest international gaming festival with over one million attendees and visitors every year. Before its recent acquisition by Activision, Microsoft had already told Bizarre Creations that it would no longer be used for the development of future instalments of the microsoft-owned PGR series - thus ending a close working relationship and presumably prompting Bizarre's eventual sale. According to a source within Bizarre who cannot be named (such is the way with such things), Microsoft had informed Bizarre that it would be taking development of future Gotham games in-house, before its then owners had decided to put the developer up for sale.

The summer dry spell for video games came to an end last week with the arrival of BioShock, the creepy underwater shooter that has won rave reviews and flown off store shelves. The main bulk of important games this year won't come out until November, but the next month or two will see the release of quite a few other hot games. These aren't necessarily system sellers -- games that are so good that consumers will buy a particular video game console just to play them -- but give potential customers a few more reasons to eventually take the plunge.

A KIA car model featured in Xbox 360-exclusive PRG3 has been used in an image promoting the car manufacturer and the PlayStation 3. Whoops...
For the record this is the second time assets from Project Gotham Racing have been used in conjunction with a PlayStation promotion.
Back in January, a similar goof was made while promoting Gran Turismo HD. On Sony's own PSP Connect website, a 'splash' encouraging visitors to download a new GTHD trailer used an image of Xbox 360 racer Project Gotham

Do you remember back in January when PlayStation decided to show off the amazing next-gen graphics of Gran Turismo HD with a screenshot of, er, Xbox 360's Project Gotham 3? Well, looks like they're still trying to convince themselves that PGR really is a PS3 game... Car manufacturer Kia is currently running a promotion with PlayStation in Spain that compares the thrill of driving one of their real-life motors with the thrill of driving a Ferrari Enzo on your PS3. Except no PS3 game has a Ferrari Enzo in it. Ah well, at least you can't clearly tell that this screenshot has clearly come from PGR3. Oh wait. Look at the number plate... You can check the Kia/PlayStation website out for yourself here, but since it'll no doubt be pulled very soon I've captured the moment for posterity.
