Tales of Vesperia is the first major RPG to be presented in HD, Producer Gouda Tsutomu boasted at last night’s Bandai Namco press event. “[We] have finally realized the ideal RPG that Tales has always tried to be.”

After drooling over the trailer, we heartily agree - Tales of Vesperia is quite possibly the most gorgeous game we’ve ever seen on the Xbox 360, more beautiful even than

Back in March, Associate Editor Paul Ryan took a few shots at the Japanese role-playing game genre in his article Why JRPGs suck. While Paul raises some valid points in his piece (like, two), some of us at GamesRadar could write a graduate dissertation on why JRPGs are awesome.

Instead of coughing up a master’s thesis right now, though, we’re going to take one of the most awesome upcoming JRPGs for the Xbox 360 and use

Forget that silly sequel on the Wii - Tales of Vesperia on the Xbox 360 is the real continuation of the Tales series. Just in time for the 10th anniversary of the series, Vesperia is set in a world where an evil Empire is trying to control all of the ancient technology called "blastia," the story follows two friends out on different paths to save their world… or destroy it. Stunning HD and an all-new graphics engine promised immersive,

It’s tough being Capcom. There are fanboys of every stripe in the gaming world, but rarely are there more rabid and stubborn fans than those of fighting games. Die-hards analyze every frame and gameplay change down to its core, and they petition endlessly for their favorite obscure character to be included in every game Capcom releases.

For fans of the original game there's an eerie sense of déjà vu when playing the 2Fort map in Team Fortress 2. Even if you'd already been told it was a remade version of the popular Team Fortress Classic map, or realized simply by looking at the map's name, its layout already exists as a semi-familiar strategy map in the back of your mind. There's that central bridge across the moat, treacherous to cross and half-concealing the alternate entrance to the enemy base. There are the

Wed like to suggest that with every passing month we get closer to playing the next chapter in one of the best FPS of all time, but like some sort of cruel tease with a delicious chocolate bar on the end of a piece of string, Valve keeps moving the release date for the re-energized Half-Life 2 further and further away, leaving us scampering about like frothing fools. However, despite the slip from last autumn to this spring to this autumn, our over-eager ears are kept pricked up, and theres the

The first surprise, playing Team Fortress 2, is how incredibly bloody it is. Its fantastically good fun, too, but you can pretty much see that just from looking at it. The explosive gore, bony hunks of shredded men and severed heads are more of a shock among these beaming cartoon smiles, but you soon realize theyre entirely necessary. In TF2, things do what they look like they should do. A direct hit from a smoke-belching rocket looks like it ought to rip someone apart, so it does. But

Aug 23, 2007 Plenty's already been said about Ace Combat 6 and Beautiful Katamari, but until this week no one had seen a drop of full-on multiplayer action. Both games promised the feature, and had been explained through text, but now we've finally spent some quality time with two of Namco's biggest hitters. Oh, and we dabbled with Tekken 5's new online mode on the PlayStation Network, but more on that later. Being the insatiable Ace fans that we are, Fires of Liberation was our first stop.

Tekken 6 has been something of a slow burner. Already available to play in the arcades (if you can find one), there had to be something extra in the home console version to warrant the seemingly endless wait. And, sure enough, there is just that - the new campaign mode.

Firstly, we should make it clear that this isn't going to replace the regular action of the arcade mode.

'Proper' Tekken is still the star of the show with the

Namco Bandai Day 2009. At this prestigious event in San Francisco where the beer flowed like wine, the ‘Radar crew got to see games Namco has cooking for the summer/fall seasons. One of the heavily featured games, Tekken 6, is the first multiplatform Tekken game and the first for this generation of systems (Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection for PSN doesn’t count).
