When the last ‘proper’ Street Fighter came out, almost 10 years ago, it’s safe to say that the fighters had lost much of their appeal and the fanbase they enjoyed during their heyday of the early ’90s. Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike didn’t exactly make much of an impact, with old favorites Ryu and Ken joining a bunch of weirdos and misfits many people couldn’t care less about.
Last week Capcom revealed one of its strongest lineups in ages during the Captivate 08 event (we briefly talked about it on TalkRadar). The embargos have lifted and now we're able to say what we saw, what we played and what totally stole the show (it surprised the hell out of us, that's for sure). Now, we finally have new information as well as hands-on impressions of the crossover fighter that pits two former rivals against each other...
It’s been a while since we put some joystick time in with Street Fighter X Tekken, and since our last preview there’s been new characters and new controversial game mechanics announced. While the build we played didn’t have the new gems system usable yet, we did get to fool around with the new characters and try out the new Pandora system.

You're gunning through the steep and winding streets of San Francisco. With a white-knuckle death grip on the steering wheel of your 1970s-style muscle car, you see the focus of your pursuit - a couple of criminal lowlifes in a beat up sedan - swerve unexpectedly and escape down a side alley. But you'll get to them later. First, you've got to smash through a glass window pane and launch yourself into the air off a conveniently placed wooden ramp.
