For the past two months, the best gamers in the United States and Canada have been competing in intense online matches of 2K Sports' NHL 2K8 for a chance to win a spot and showcase their skills in the NHL 2K8 All-Star Tournament championships in Atlanta, Georgia, during NHL All-Star Weekend on January 26-27, 2008. Hosted exclusively on the red carpet by Jason Spezza, NHL 2K8 cover athlete and Eastern Conference All-Star center for the Ottawa Senators, the elite event will pair the top four finalists as they battle through exciting semifinal and championship matches leading to the ultimate showdown on center ice on Sunday, January 27. During the first period of the NHL All-Star game, the two finalists will go head-to-head again for a very special championship exhibition match in front of thousands of cheering fans. The winner will be crowned the top NHL 2K8 player and will receive the grand prize of a brand-new 2008 Dodge Nitro SUV.

With this year's hockey season underway, and their video game counterparts hitting stores shelves, 2K Sports has announced the soundtrack to accompany NHL 2K8. Each song was chosen to reflect the spirit of the sport and the enthusiasm of its fans. Two more game demos have arrived to the Xbox Live Marketplace. The first one is the demo of Clive Barker's Jericho which is not available in Germany and Asia. Its size is 885.17 MB. NHL 2K8's demo is the second one. It weighs in at 1 GB and not available in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

September 19, 2007 2K Sports has today released a downloadable movie editor for NHL 2K8, available for 400 Microsoft points (£3.40) from Xbox Live Marketplace. It's interesting that a feature such as this should come separately as opposed to built into the game itself, although it does sound like a pretty comprehensive editing tool. Xbox Evolved has posted some highlights with a conference call they recently did with the developers at 2KSports on NHL2K8.

2K Games and 2K Sports have just revealed their lineup for the show, and according to Kotaku, the Games folks definitely have the edge here. They'll be showing the intriguing new shooter from Gearbox, Borderlands, as well as Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution, the first Civ game created solely for consoles and handhelds. The Sports team will be showing off Top Spin 3, NBA 2K8 and NHL 2k8.
