  • Reuters reported today that Microsoft is working on a music and video device in the hopes of rivaling the Apple iPod. Siting anonymous sources close to Microsoft, Reuters reporter Kenneth Li purports that the company responsible for bringing us the Xbox, 360 and Windows operating system is now focusing on battling the iPod for downloadable media supremacy. The article indicated that former Xbox chief Robbie Bach is in charge of the new project which is slated to include a portable media device
  • Ubisoft lobbed a batch of new Splinter Cell Double Agent screens at us, so we've collected them together and put 'em up on the site for you to check out. In addition to the fresh shots, there's also a website you can now visit at www.splintercell.com that includes the usual load-out of game info, trailers and wallpaper for your computer. The eight new screens we've got highlight some of the exploits we got to see Sam participate in first-hand at E3. There are a couple scenes of the freezing
  • After the release of the Lost Planet demo over Xbox Live Marketplace, we nearly wet ourselves while experiencing the frozen wastelands and blazing firefights against bugs of unusual size. It's a good thing we didn't, though, because these new screens illustrate frigid tundra that would have probably caused our pants to become uncomfortably icy in the sub-zero temperatures. These screens highlight some of the more exciting abilities Lost Planet 's plucky protagonist Wayne has at his disposal.
  • We found two new screens from the upcoming adventures of Sonic on the next-gen systems, which is currently going under the unoriginal name of Sonic the Hedgehog. While we generated an exhaustive hands-on while attending this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (or E3 for those in the know), we can't refuse posting up more multiplatform pics of the prickly prancer. Check them by clicking here. These two images feature the quilled quicky prominently upstaging Dr. Robotnik's mechanical
  • We've got a clump of new Test Drive Unlimited screens to show off, but they've all got a common focal point: the AC Cobra supercar. Two Cobra models will be available in TDU for you to snap up and slot into your garage: the AC Cobra 289, whose top speed of 140mph would disqualify it from ever appearing in Project Gotham Racing 3, and the AC Cobra 247, which peaks at 180mph. Check the screens for both PC and Xbox 360. The developers say the games will look practically identical. June 16,
  • Monday 19 June 2006 We've stumbled across a fine selection of images from Capcom's upcoming sci-fi shooter Lost Planet, and you can find the latest shots for yourself by clicking the images tab at the top of this page. Lost Planet is an exercise in third-person alien extermination, with amnesiac lead character Wayne facing off against the creepy crawly Akrids on a hostile frozen world. Luckily, he's got a selection of weapons to keep his hands warm and also has access to stonking great
  • Monday 19 June 2006 Whether backwards compatibility is a vital feature of a new console or just a non-essential extra is a hot topic of debate amongst gamers, and now some industry voices have offered their views on the thorny subject of being able to play old games on new consoles. Capcom's senior director of strategic planning, Christian Svensson, believes that backwards compatibility is just a "security blanket", explaining to industry website next-gen.biz that it makes gamers "feel like

  • Sweating and achy from furiously polishing the most innovative and beautiful shooter we are likely to see this year, the makers of Prey have released a salvo of alien infested, mind-twisting shots. Click here to see these multiplatform images. This isn't nearly as exciting as actually getting behind the squishy guns and embracing our deepest xenophobia in the demo set for release on the PC and the Xbox 360 on June 22. In Prey you'll play as Tommy, a Cherokee mechanic who unlocks his spiritual
  • During an interview with Stuff magazine, Xbox UK kingpin Neil Thompson stated that the three biggest advantages the 360 could lord over the PS3 were "proven games experience - including an exclusive online-playable version of Grand Theft Auto next year - the online experience and all the extra multimedia stuff Xbox does." While initially nebulous, a brief word from Microsoft clarified that Thompson was simply reiterating Peter Moore's announcement at this year's E3 that the 360 version of GTA
