  • THQ has announced that a Red Faction: Armageddon demo is scheduled to launch simultaneously on XBLA and PSN next week, on May 3. The PSN launch, of course, relies on PSN being alive and kicking. All we know about the network's reactivation is that Sony believes it will have "some services" back up within a week...

  • Mortal Kombat Week is coming to a close, but we’ve still got a little Lin Kuei love left in us. You may have noticed we’ve been more than a little obsessed with the Mortal Kombat Theme as of late, so we hope you don’t mind us dragging out The Immortal’s timeless jam once again to punctuate highlights from this week’s best VG video. See all the trailers showcased in their entirety after the jump...

  • “We are disappointed in our first quarter financial performance,” THQ's Brian Farrell admitted in fiscal results released to investors this week. The company posted a loss of $US38.4M, with Farrell laying much of the blame for the poor result on high-profile disappointment Red Faction: Armageddon. Appropriately enough for a game named after the End of All Things, the title turns out to be almost certainly the last in the series, with Farrell announcing that the company has no plans “to continue with that franchise in any meaningful way...”

  • Above: It's about time

It's common practice to sweeten the deal of a new game demo by promising new features if the download reaches a set, seemingly extravagantly-high figure. EA, in particular, has made use of this modus operandi frequently of late. But giving players a new car or sword or what have you is small potatoes. It takes a whole other level of ballsiness to say to players, “download this a million times and we'll put a farting unicorn in our game” – and then, a month down the line, to do just that. Red Faction: Armageddon has exactly that many balls...

  • If you read my earlier story about InFamous 2, you know that no one here is reading anything I write at the moment, so I can say silly things. OK, I could still say silly things if they were reading it, but it's more fun to think I'm subverting something. Regardless of how it's done, someone has to post these trailers, even if we're running late to The Glowing Star's debut show...

We all remember where we were for certain events: 9/11, the election of President Obama, Brett Hart's return to the WWE. Soon another moment will become frozen in your memory: where you were when you first saw what's in all likelihood to be the last thing ever released with Red Faction in the name. Here's the trailer for the Path to War DLC, released today for the ill-fated Red Faction: Armageddon...

  • You may've heard tell that Microsoft is considering locking used games out of the next Xbox. At least one developer, Volition's Jameson Durall, can't wait...

  • Deep Silver opted just for the Saints Row license...

  • Today, THQ announced Red Faction: Battlegrounds, the first DLC game set in the Red Faction universe. The multiplayer-focused title is all about vehicular combat, and pits mechs against tanks and buggies. Red Faction was famous for its destructible environments - and THQ plans to stay true to that element of the series.

“Just as in other Red Faction games, you can pretty much blow up everything. Only this time, you do it with your friends using hulking mechs, armored tanks and combat walkers,” explains THQ’s Kevin Kraff in a prepared statement…
