Microsoft has revealed that this weeks addition to the Xbox 360s Games on Demand service wwill be Electronic Arts NBA Street Homecourt. Originally released in 2007, NBA Street Homecourt was applauded by critics for its near-flawless procedural animation system during complicated tricks and combos.

Joystiq via ESPN writes: Electronic Arts and Midway have shelved their competing arcade-style basketball franchises, as ESPN reports that both NBA Street and NBA Ballers have been benched. Regarding NBA Street, EA Sports boss Peter Moore explains to ESPN that the division is reevaluating its mixture of licensed and original IP, adding that we need to develop some new things. But don't go expecting anything particularly edgy to come out of this moment of clarity. If Wii Sports has taught us anything, adds Moore, it's that people will sit there and play big head tennis all day long. We need to be able to tap into that audience.'

EA has released two new courts, new playable characters and Brand Jordan items. NBA Street Homecourt players have a selection of new content available to them today, with the release of three new content packs on Xbox Live Marketplace. First is a reworking of Melo's Clovedale. The court has been redone in Melo's H.O.O.D. movement style and is completely free to all Xbox Live users. Second is another court, Perkins Park, located in Lebron James' hometown of Akron Ohio. The court has been rebuilt by King James himself and Nike.

The new issue includes an exclusive interview with Ken Levine, Creative Director of Bioshock, where he talks about the emotions and responses he hopes to evoke in gamers. Alongside the interview is a preview with video and the rest of the issue packs in previews of Frontlines: Fuel of War, reviews of GRAW 2, Bullet Witch, and NBA Street Homecourt, plus a new Community section.

In the March 2007 issue of Game Informer Magazine NBA Street Homecourt was recently reviewed. As expected the game had scored a solid 8.75. However, something unexpected was that the game looked the best on the Xbox 360 as opposed to the Playstation 3. Quoted: I'd give the nod to the 360 in terms of visuals, but either way this game features great texturing, character models and jaw-droppingly smooth animations.

EA BIG today announced that they will be slam dunking a playable demo of NBA Street Homecourt onto the Xbox 360 Marketplace at the beginning of February. The full game promises a large selection of NBA stars, as well as old-style legends and a selection of STREET characters. NBA Street Homecourt will be running on a new graphics engine...
