Just when we were getting used to having a new release every week, Microsoft has gone and prepped two titles for release on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday. 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures and Gyruss are the two downloadable games arriving this week, for 800 and 400 Microsoft points respectively. Of course it's no surprise that Microsoft is attempting to get more games onto the download service; casual games boss Bryan Trussel told us last month that the company was trying to "trying to bump up

OXM is taunting how if internet whispers are to be believe it looks like Microsoft is set to up the ante by bringing us two new titles this week, one old and one new. The first title tipped for the double-whammy Xbox Live Arcade release is the long-awaited 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures, from the same developer that brought us Assualt Heroes. As you can imagine it's full of whacky courses and holes ¿ 36 to be exact ¿ and there's also a customizable course editor for you to try your hand and creating even more bizarre putting challenges. Tag-teaming 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures is the classic Konami shooter Gyruss, which was originally released in Arcades in the early 80s. Gyruss follows in the Galaga tradition of space shooting but with one important twist; it has a forced 3D perspective where your ship is flying towards the screen rather than the familiar sidescrolling affair.

There's a small section devoted to Xbox Live Arcade in the latest issue of Konami's newsletter -- creatively titled, Konami News. In the newsletter, Konami announces that both Contra and Gyruss are coming soon. The article contains some previously unreleased info on both games. Contra will feature updated graphics and sounds, online multiplayer (!), and leaderboards. But does it have the code?! That's all we want to know. Gyruss will feature updated graphics, new versus and co-op modes, and leaderboards.
