The semi-popular racing game, Race Driver: Grid had a loss of its PC, and PS3 multiplayer servers last week due to the game simply being rather aged. This limited those who still actively played the game to single player races and local multiplayer. There was a small revel of angry gamers, however without the crowd Grid had on it server months before and the releases of newer racing games like Dirt 3, there was very little chance Codemasters would do much about it. The Xbox 360 servers have not been discontinued.
Servers for Codemasters 2008 racer, GRID have been shut down, according to a report on MCV. The Xbox 360 servers will keep on running, but Codies have yanked the plug on PC and PS3 servers for the game.
If, like us, you wondered where GRID 2 was when DIRT 3 was announced, you'll be pleased to hear that it is alive and kicking and is coming to an arcade near you (if there is an arcade near you) this autumn. Sure, it's not the sequel we long for, but as a stop-gap it's welcome indeed. Most surprisingly, however, is that Sega's got its name all over the cabinet just as much as Codemasters. That's what a dedicated arcade division can get you, folks - amazing collaborative efforts.

BeefJack writes: It's not often that a politician sings the praises of the video game industry, which is why a big deal should be made of it when it does happen. Edward Vaizey, a Conservative MP, has requested the motion that the UK government recognise the importance of the UK Video Game Industry and in particular those games created by UK developers.
