Mastertronic has today announced that they have signed a deal with PopCap Games, creator of record breaking game brands such as Bejeweled, Peggle and Plants vs. Zombies, to bring a number of the developers casual for PC, handheld and console formats to retail across the UK, Europe and PAL territories. PopCap Games is widely regarded as a founding father of the casual games industry, redefining social network games and leading innovation in a casual gaming space.

GameSpot writes: It's been a while since Microsoft last branded an Xbox Live Arcade title an Arcade Hit. However, if the publisher's own Web site is to be believed, it appears as if a trio of long-standing XBLA titles is poised to be added to the discount program. With Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe out next week, Microsoft will be giving 360 gamers a cut rate on Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The online-enabled arcade fighter garnered solid reviews when it scrapped its way onto Microsoft's online platform in October 2006. Joining Midway's fighter will be Team 17's over-the-top annelid arms race Worms, as well as Oberon Media's casual action title Feeding Frenzy.

PopCap already has games including Astropop, Bejeweled 2, Feeding Frenzy and Zuma on Xbox Live Arcade, but the Wii and PS3 are future platform possibilities as well. We love XBLA, confessed Roberts. We were on the XBLA bandwagon early, and we actually have Heavy Weapon shipping very soon now. That's our first sort of Live-enabled multiplayer version of any of our games.

Two new titles were unveiled today for inclusion in the Xbox Live Arcade family of casual-friendly games. Both Astropop and Feeding Frenzy will be available for download starting immediately via Xbox Live. Astropop is a space-themed, block-puzzler where players are challenged to use a magnet ray to grab and match colored blocks in an odd marriage of Tetris and Breakout (or Brickout... or Super Breakout ). Apparently, some form of sci-fi storyline drives you on through levels of increasing
