  • It’s a big week for gamers, with Red Dead Redemption and Alan Wake taking center stage; fortunately CheatPlanet’s got some cheat codes for RDR and a guide for Alan Wake’s collectibles. We’ve also got some codes and unlockables for EA’s Skate 3, which are some of the most bizarre we’ve seen in a long time. Expect a Super Mario Galaxy 2 star guide next week in addition to some Lost Planet 2 and Red Dead Redemption guides!

  • We've been playing loads of Red Dead Redemption and Alan Wake recently. The former is perhaps the greatest open world game ever, offering near peerless FREEEEDOOOOMMMM! (sorry, slipped into Braveheart mode, there) and scale. Mr. Wake, on the other sun-deprived hand, is all about tight scripting and memorable set pieces. Which brings us onto the eternal question or... eh, the one we thought up this morning: what do you prefer, freedom or scripted moments?

  • You've read this sort of feature before. Website X points out that Character Y looks a whole lot like Celebrity Z. Readers agree or disagree. Publish and repeat. The articles are always fun, but eventually, the same obvious choices show up again and again.

    So what makes mine any different? I didn't decide these matches – an all-knowing, face-recognizing, database-searching, algorithm-crunching computer did!

  • Unlike our beloved Duke, not all games wither and die when they get stuck in development limbo. While the majority of titles that undergo drastic changes or lengthy delays end up performing oral acts on donkey’s groins, some survive the pre-release purgatory smelling of roses. Well, more ‘gameplay that’s not shit’ than roses, really. So without furthing rambling, here’s a bunch of games that survived development hell and lived to be damn decent titles.

  • We didn’t need to play UK Truck Simulator (totally real) or whatever before declaring our picks for the best games of 2010. We have common sense and expectations. We’re not robots. Well, maybe we are, but if we are then we’re really advanced robots - like Data’s brother in TNG.

    This human (or evil android) common sense also gives us the power to make educated guesses as to which games of 2011 will get award-giving gamz jarnlists like ourselves all riled up...
