In what has to be a major blow to the team behind the Fable series, original creators Simon Carter and his brother Dene (you know, the Normanomicon pair) have left Lionhead Studios to pursue new opportunities.

As the original Fable was released on PC, and Fable III is set for a PC release tomorrow, theres been a lot of chatter about the possibility of a PC version of Fable II, which was an Xbox 360 exclusive. Unfortunately for PC players, developers Lionhead seem to have crushed any hopes.

Videogamer: Launch week sales for Fable III were 6,000 units higher than those of Fable II, GfK Chart Track reports. Fable III claimed the top spot in the UK All Formats All Prices video game chart and has become the 13th biggest Xbox 360 launch ever and the 4th biggest Xbox 360 launch of 2010.

Despite various claims of being able to unlock achievements and 360's recognizing the download as a Full Game purchase, Xbox Live Support's Twitter page responds to a barrage of messages, urging users that the download is in fact the full game, but just Episode 1 that is available for free. UPDATE: Microsoft's LIVE Support now are remaining quiet to various reports, claiming that they don't have enough information to respond to various claims regarding Fable II.
