VelocityGamer writes: A few days ago Crytek officially announced that Crysis would be coming over to PSN and XBLM for a low asking price. Since then, early photos grabbed from the Crysis trailer pitted the console version against the PC. Some were pretty dismayed to see just how big of a gap there was between the two versions, even after Cryteks claims that the port would have several enhancements. Once Crytek got a look at some of these comparisons they decided to go ahead and release new photos that are taken from an updated build, showing some improvement to the port.

Crytek are truly wizards. They have managed to make the console version as good as the PC version. Crytek Tiago has confirmed that the console versions feature parallax occlusion mapping, in case you dont know what that is; it really brings depth to the graphics. Take a look at the screenshot above.

Crysis was a thesis for PC superiority over consoles when it released in 2007. It was heavily promoted as being too “advanced” and “powerful” to run on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, and featured graphics that looked years ahead of anything found on consoles. Sure, it required an absurdly expensive gaming rig to even think about playing it on the highest settings, but that was the price that needed to be paid for the amazing realism of Crysis - for an experience that simply couldn’t be had on consoles. Oh, what a difference a few years can make...

"Stem Huebler who was Lead Level Designer for Crysis 1 and Lead Game Designer for Crysis 2, said during a interview with Crytek. Luckily we had the opportunity to improve Crysis 1 for the console version with what we have learned from developing Crysis 2.

You see people, this is how you make an exciting video game announcement. You don't put out an empty web-site with a countdown timer to a countdown timer to a countdown timer for a crap online puzzle that the world has to spend six months solving by providing free marketing via Facebook likes and uploaded photos of corporate logos painted on their houses, only to be rewarded with one pixel of production art and the revelation that the whole process will be repeated for every single pixel until the ultimate, life-changing revelation of a logo and a half-shadowed picture of a none-more-generic bald man who's glowering a bit, some time before the second half of 2018.

No, you just nonchalantly say "Yeah, now this is happening". You make this statement out of nowhere, you make it with a bloody impressive trailer, and you make it a month before release, so that the frenzy is still raging when your game drops. Crysis. Consoles. Boom. Next month.
