The Witcher 3 is about to get weird with mod support - and it could come to console

Prepare for nude mods, corruption videos and something that'll make Drowners shout "that wizard came from the moon" when they see Geralt in The Witcher 3. Expect jokes, texture remaps and at least one idea that will blow everyone's mind, CD Projekt RED included (and probably net them a job in the process). The Witcher 3's mod tools are here and nothing from Nilfgaard to the North is safe anymore.

Mods have already been made for the game, but these new resources make the process far easier. Speaking to Gamespot, CDPR made clear that this is not an editor, but a set of tools that are "meant for people who are somewhat experienced with modding software and are designed to make creating mods easier." Aside from easing access for modders, they should also make more complex ideas possible.

It's also as far as CDPR's support is likely to stretch - community lead, Marcin Momot took to Twitter to say, "This is the mod support for the Wild Hunt. At this moment we are not planning to release anything else." Of course, all of this is PC-only - for now. We know that Fallout 4 is getting mod support, and when asked if The Witcher 3 would follow suit, CDPR gave an encouraging (if not conclusive) reply:

"It’s really important for us not to partition The Witcher community and allow access to mods to console gamers, too. We’re considering various approaches to solve this and started initial talks with first-parties about this. We can’t make any hard promises yet, but you can be sure that we’re looking into it."

If you're looking to make yourself some mods, you can get the tools right here, right now.
