Win tickets to a Total Film screening of twisted thriller Killer Joe, starring Matthew McConaughey

Killer Joe is the outrageous new thriller from The Exorcist director William Friedkin, and we’re hosting a special screening for Total Film readers!

Sick and depraved in the best possible way, Killer Joe outraged US censors (who handed it the toxic NC-17 certificate) with its midnight-black humour and uncompromisingly brutal violence.

A controversial piece of Kentucky-fried Southern gothic, Joe ’s setup is pleasingly simple. Chris (Emile Hirsch) is a drug dealer of the small-time, low-life variety, who finds himself in a spot of bother when his own mother rips of his stash.

Aided and abetted by his equally detestable father, Ansel (Thomas Haden Church), Chris sets about settling his debts by cashing in on his ma’s life insurance policy. In swaggers Matthew McConaughey’s Killer Joe Cooper, a grimy-to-the-core copper with a lucrative sideline in contract killing. His deposit for the job? Chris’ young sister Dottie (Juno Temple)…

It’s fast becoming apparent that this is McConaughey’s year; with career-energising turns in Joe , Magic Mike , Mud and The Paperboy , he virtually has 2012 tucked under the brim of his Stetson.

Don’t miss the chance to catch the sizzling opening to his incendiary year.

We’re hosting an exclusive preview screening of Killer Joe at The Prince Charles Cinema, Leicester Place, London on the evening of Monday 25 June.

As well as getting to see the movie for FREE before it hits cinemas, our lucky winners will be getting into the spirit of things by munching on Southern-fried grub, washed down with complimentary beer. Drinks will kick off from 6.30pm, with the film starting at 7pm.
