Win Euro 2008 for England!

Winning qualification

We've put in some good showings, but Bentley's been turning in the performances too... Looks like we've a real rival in the captaincy stakes.

The tension between us and Bentley is clear in the next match, with the two of us facing off after another good chance goes to waste.

We obviously did something right, though, as the manager quickly puts us in charge of England's push for qualification.

The pressure got to us, though, and the post-match ratings show Bentley and Dawson - our team rivals - put in far better performances. If we wanted to, we could have scuppered their rating by playing them into difficult positions - so they'd lose the ball - or stopping them scoring. It's obviously going to get nasty like this in multiplayer matches.

Back to qualification. A quick check of the standings will tell you where you figure in the manager's plans - we're still far ahead of the competition, and well placed in the senior England squad.

Our bad streak continues, and unless we start performing again, we'll be dropped from the squad. If that happens, we won't even get to play in the full-blown Euro 2008 competition. Fortunately, our rivals haven't exactly outdone themselves either, so we're not on our own.

A decisive performance in the last few crucial qualifiers - leading the team on as captain despite the pressure - and we've patched things up with Bentley.

McClaren, though, looks disappointed. What moredoes he want? Perhaps he's not impressed by how we've been calling for everyone to pass back to us - and so give us a chance to show off - even when they're through on an empty goalmouth. Hey, you've gotta do what you gotta do!

With our first Man Of The Match award - and qualification won - there's no way the manager can leave us behind. Winning this award also boosts the development points you get from each match, meaning you can dramatically increase your player's stats and skills.

We've made it! But without that career-saving last few games, even if England qualified we might not have been named in the final squad.

Germany, Spain and Switzerland await, with Germany our first game in the finals. Nervous? Not us!
