Iwata: Not concerned about Microsoft Wii Remote

More interested in keeping the Wii experience fresh

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has dismissed the threat of a Microsoft manufactured Wii Remote being released for Xbox 360, claiming that it won't be a threat as long as Nintendo continues to offer new surprises.

"All I can say today is, it is not that easy to develop software which leverages the characteristics of Wii Remote," he said in a fiscal review.

"We are not concerned about what other companies may do but rather more concerned with presenting them with new ideas to our customers based on the prospect that our existing customers will surely get tired of the plays enabled by Wii Remote if we do not try to improve the experience.

"In other words, what matters to us is whether or not we can continue to constantly create and offer new surprises one after another."

Earlier this month, we reported that a developer was claiming he was working on a Wii Remote equivalent for the Xbox 360.

He also claimed that Rare was working on both an interface and look for the controller, as well as creating a version of Miis for 360 too. The claim has yet to be confirmed.
