Nov 19, 2007 With Wii continuing to do incredibly well, third parties are jumping on board faster than we can keep track of, but Nintendo wants devs to "take time" on their creations instead of rushing out quick cash-ins. Speaking on the topic of Wii's healthy third party support, Nintendo of America's George Harrison says: "Certainly there's a strong line-up of third party titles, and we're trying to encourage them to make them. "But, we're also trying to encourage third parties to take the ... » Read More

Nov 19th, 2007 While most celebrating their first birthday have achieved very little during the preceding year bar the production of a variety of venomous smells and a lot of drooling, the Wii has had a pretty eventful time. With its radically new approach to control input (not to mention controversial attitude towards the console industrys traditional generational horsepower boost), it was clear from the start that the machine was going to be death or glory for the then-struggling Nintendo. ... » Read More

Nov 16, 2007 Ghostbusters News Watch the 17 seconds that set the internets on fire. The Ghostbusters game has been the subject of rumor-mongering for years, and we finally have concrete proof that they've, well, designed a logo. It's great news, for sure, but totally underwhelming as a piece of promotional media. Here's to hoping that the next one will actually show a pixel or two of something that's actually in the ... » Read More

Nov 16, 2007 Sony is happy at the moment. PS3 sales have almost tripled in the US, and new official figures from Japan have revealed that Sony's console has actually outsold the seemingly unstoppable Wii for the first time ever. For the week ending November 11, Media Create figures put PS3 sales at 55, 924, while Wii only managed 34,546. This is great news for Sony, whose sales were probably helped along by the recent release of Dynasty Warriors 6 - the latest in the mundane hack-'em-up ... » Read More

Nov 15, 2007 Weekly sales of PS3 have almost tripled in US since the October 18 price drop, which Sony Chairman Howard Stringer describes as "the breakthrough we have been anticipating." Sony sold over 100,000 PS3s on the week ending November 5, up from 30,000 to 40,000 in weeks preceding the price drop. "It's a little fortuitous that the Wii is running out of hardware," he added, pointing out Nintendo's problems meeting demand in US and UK. "We've been holding our breath," admits Stringer, ... » Read More

Nov 14, 2007 Interplay is looking into reviving its portfolio of deceased game franchises, including Earthworm Jim and MDK. According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company intends to bring its in-house development studio back from the dead using the money it gained from the sale of Fallout to Bethesda. Nov 13, 2007 Nintendo sends word that the Wii's Photo Channel will receive an update early next month, which adds new music file compatibility and other tweaks to the picture-browsing application. Does anyone use it, anyway? Mp4 and m4a formats will also be supported. Apparently, the update also lets Wii owners play back ... » Read More

Nov 12, 2007 When it comes to running and jumping, Mario is the undisputed King of Hop. Every five years or so Nintendo gets around to releasing a new platformer, and each and every one is something special. Super Mario Galaxy is the latest in a long, long line of ultra-successful entries, but how does the plumber fare when he's taken out of his hop-n-bop element? Surprisingly well, actually.
