Wii - Wii Play - Presenting the king of naff add-ons: the Wii Billiards controller GamerSquad just stumbled across the Wii Billiards controller. Available at the Hong Kong-based Goldenshop for $13 (£6.50 / €10), plus postage and packaging, the Wii Billiards cue now almost certainly tops the league table of futile, ineffectual add-on tat that produced on a seemingly daily basis for Nintendo's little white box. Boo!

Wii - Wii Play - 'Rejected Wii Play Games' delight, nauseate The general consensus on Nintendo's Wii Play is that it offers pretty good training in the use of the Wiimote, but tends to get repetitive and thus fails to really succeed as a standalone title.

Well the folks over at Loading.Ready.Run clearly wanted more than this rather bland execution, and they've imagined a number of mini-games that for whatever reason - mostly poor taste - Reggie and company decided to leave out of the final product, but should maybe reconsider. For instance, Shooting is pretty fun, but perhaps the way to really speak to today's youth would have been with WiiDriveby, where the gunman gets points for every "hater capped." Other rejects range from tedious (Paperwork Mario, Why are Wii hitting ourselves) to cruel (BiiHeading, Seal Hunt) to gross (WiiPii, Prostate Exam) to just plain weird (Rhythm Gymnastics? Cii-Section?). Hit the Read link to catch the entire list [Warning: possibly NSFW due to sexual innuendo and animated urination].

See a humorous video with the rejected concepts after the jump.

Wii - Wii Play - Wii Fad, or Genius Way to Bring in New Gamers? "If Wii newbies migrate to those games, we can start talking about Nintendo changing the entire culture of entertainment."

"Could the Wii be a short-lived fad? Not likely, but impossible to rule out. Could its converts - people with almost no previous gaming interest - turn out to be a relatively small pool of consumers? Sure."

"The "mom" factor shows signs of emerging as a Wii theme. Before the console launched, there was considerable speculation about whether the Wii could draw in meaningful numbers of new women players. But consider this tale from the blogs:

"I also brought my Wii console home for Christmas, and my mother, who I have never seen try any game except for 'Tetris' in her life, after seeing what my brothers and I were doing, asked to play some 'Wii Sports' tennis! It was definitely a moment to get out the camera and take a picture!"

"I thought she would enjoy it and then let others play. No! She proceeded to play game after game for over an hour! I have been completely amazed at how the Wii brought that out of her (finally!) and how she can now appreciate my love for gaming."
