We've had a rough few years recently, but now - right now - is a good time to be a Nintendo fan. Mario Galaxy 2 is just a couple weeks away, new Pokemon details are starting to leak and the very idea of a high-tech 3D handheld is enough to convince some gamers that Nintendo could be catering to a hardcore audience again.

Enjoy that feeling while you can, kids, because it won't last long...

ONM writes: Shigeru Miyamoto has told ONM that Wii Music still has great potential despite the underwhelming critical and commercial response for his game. I think it sold lower than our expectations but on the other hand it was a really unique game, I have to say, Miyamoto told ONM in an interview that will be published in issue 50 of Official Nintendo Magazine. 'And also, even today, we are receiving several different offers from people in the field of music education, so as far as Wii Music is concerned, I think is still has great potential. And in the future there might be some developments.'

Wii games will be on sale throughout the day today (3/31/09), as Amazon.com's featured Gold Box and Lightning Deals. The Gold Box Wii game is Wii Music, which is $29.99. A pretty good savings of $20 for a Nintendo game. It's available while supplies last. Throughout the day, more Wii games will go on sale as part of the Wii Lightning Deals. Be on the lookout on the hour, since these tend to go fast (depending on the game of course). Here are the hours that each Lightning Deal begins, along with a hint of the game: 6:00 AM PDT - In the Garden of Weeden, honey, don't you know that I love you? 10:00 AM PDT - Start training now. 2:00 PM PDT - The Milky Way's got nothing in comparison. 3:00 PM PDT - Give me a W! Give me an I! Give me another I! What does that spell? 6:00 PM PDT - That's so cute! The animals think they're people! Hmm... could Animal Crossing: City Folk be the 6pm deal?

IncGamers report: Blondie drummer Clem Burke is teaming up with researchers from the Universities of Chichester and Gloucester to study the potential physical and psychological benefits of playing drum-based music games.

Gamedaily writes: Speaking in an investors' Q&A session recently, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata was asked about Wii Music, which has gotten mixed reactions from critics (and a 63 average on GameRankings). The game has sold over 400K units in Japan and 865K in the U.S. One investor said he simply didn't feel the fun with Wii Music like he did with Wii Sports or Wii Fit.
