Tony Hawk does SSX

[Wii] Skate racer Downhill Jam is speeding to Wii this autumn

Wednesday 10 May 2006
Extreme sports racing is coming to Wii this autumn, with Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, an SSX-style skateboard race game designed especially for Nintendo's next-gen hardware, and we've seen it in action – just click the image tab above and take a look at some fresh new screens to get an idea for yourself.

Downhill Jam will make use of the Wii controller's motion sensitive features. You'll have to tilt the controller left or right to turn, and use a shaking action to trigger a speed boost to push you ahead of the pack.

It can really shift too, making supple wrists a real must if you're going to ace the themed levels - we've seen one track in San Francisco and another set on the mountainous terrain leading down into a Mediterranean town already.

We'll be going hands-on with the game later this week, and we'll give you an immediate update on how the racing feels the minute we drag ourselves away and put our thinking into wordage.
