Phil Elliott of GamesIndustry.biz writes:

"An in-game advertising campaign run by Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) last year in two Tom Clancy videogames prompted a 500 per cent increase in activity on the related recruitment web site, it has been revealed.

The campaign, which featured billboards advertising careers at GCHQ in Ubisoft titles Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Rainbow Six: Vegas, ran for a month and was managed by TMP Worldwide, according to a report in Recruiter.

Kate Clemens, head of GCHQ's digital strategy at TMP, stated that she felt the campaign had been successful as a general profile-raising exercise, with traffic increasing from around 500-600 people per day visiting the "Careers in British Intelligence" site to between 4000 and 7000."
Oh boy, here we go. When Ubisoft said it was unleashing a torrent of Wii games right at launch, it was understood that some of them would be rushed-as-hell ports. After some hands-on time with Sam Fisher's latest espionage adventure, Double Agent, it looks like this is definitely one of the dreaded, slapped together titles - emphasis on "looks like."

Sure, Wii isn't about the graphics. It's the gameplay. But when the game looks like it's running on a PS2, something's wrong. Wii can do more ...
We've covered Splinter Cell Double Agent to death, but here's one dangling bit of news we can happily announce - super spy Sam Fisher is heading to Wii for the holiday season. What kinds of hand-motioned enhancements can we expect? Right now we hear you'll get to pick locks by jiggling the remote, but beyond that, Sam's keeping his secrets ...
