Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 hands-on

Golf has always been a videogame staple, but Nintendo has taken it to a new level with the Wii. The console's motion-sensing controller is perfect for the "perfect game," as golf is often called - though that's something of a misnomer, as our own perfect game would involve cold meat sandwiches, guns, several nubile ladies, and a bathtub full of green jello. Anyhow, Tiger on Wii adds a whole new layer of interactivity. It has all the fun and addictiveness that epitomizes the Wii experience coupled with the depth and precision of Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

As you'd expect, this game has all the courses, players, realism, etc. of previous Tiger games. What's really important is how the Wii controller is implemented. You control the power of your shots by swinging the controller back to front, while the ball's fade is affected by how you twist your wrist.

Thankfully, you can take as many practice swings as you need to properly gauge the power you need for each shot. This is essential, since players will need to learn the feel of this game rather than just learning to hit buttons at appropriate meter intervals. The controls felt very accurate and, more importantly, fun in the build we played.
