The Sims 2: Castaway

Pretend to be Tom Hanks and go crazy on an island

It's a more focused game than the usual Sims efforts, with a goal that you'll be in sight of within 20 hours. The fact that you still have to govern your characters' bodily functions makes it a little less console-friendly than it might otherwise have been, and the loading pauses between each small area can get tiresome. Also, it's quite a rough-looking game, with its cardboard jungle scenery, and it doesn't make very good use of the Wii controller.

But if those aren't hugely important considerations for you, then there's a vast amount of content waiting to be explored at your leisure.

You'll love
  • Building survival tools
  • Exploring new islands
  • Working toward a concrete goal
You'll hate
  • Doesn't take advantage of Wii controller
  • Long, frequent load times
  • Cruddy graphics
