Hackers have been a pretty big concern for regular online players in The Conduit. One of the first exploits allowed a user to obtain infinite health/ammo, and that occurred only a few days after the game launch. Unfortunately, things haven't gotten much better since then.

"Huge gaming news was covered here at Blend Games for the official first week of August. Between August 2nd and August 8th we found out that a new demo for Section 8 was released, a sequel for The Conduit is very likely, Treyarch did the near-impossible by porting CoD: Modern Warfare over to the Nintendo Wii and a scuffle between Blend Games, N4G and Destructoid users occurred over the call for a ban on rape simulators (now being called "platinum" games). These stories and more right here at the Blend Games Weekly Recap."

The Conduit has been on store shelves for a few weeks now and has received mostly a positive reaction. It's not the highest rated title rated for Wii nor is it the best-selling title on the platform, but most gamers probably wouldn't be opposed to seeing a sequel. High Voltage Software has expressed some interest in the past regarding more games for The Conduit's storyline, and, well, if you played the first game, you know that the ending leaves for the door wide open for another title. Fortunately, it looks like High Voltage still has plans for at least one sequel to The Conduit.

In a recent Radio-Blodec podcast, HVS' producer Joshua Olsen was first asked about the amount of sales needed for the company to create a sequel. We have the translated response below:

OfficialNintendoMagazine: High Voltage Producer Cameron Rains has told ONM that the company has been experimenting with Wii MotionPlus. Although MotionPlus isn't used the The Conduit, it would seem that High Voltage are big fans of Nintendo's new accessory.

"I think it's fantastic," said Rains. "We're all about accessible gameplay and Wii MotionPlus is a further step in that direction.

As the developer of the forthcoming Wii games Gladiator A.D. and The Grinder, can we expect to see High Voltage games using MotionPlus? Rains didn't give much away...

Media outlets have a new reason to fear the ire of angry Nintendo fanboys, and this time it's not related to Mario, Zelda, or any other Nintendo properties. Rather, the problem stems from certain inaccuracies, or shall we say, disagreements that gaming publication GamePro posted in its recent review of the Wii's blockbuster FPS title, The Conduit. And it essentially has little to do with the score.

The company that's been riding high on its own Wii and DS successes has recently had some trouble convincing people that marquee games from publishers other than Nintendo can do well on Nintendo's machines.

Finally a well-put together third party FPS for the Wii. Although the environments can be drab and enemy AI is undoubtably weak, this is bar none the best multiplayer experience on a system hungry for online fragging.

We warned you about it, just incase you came across it while traveling the web. By the end of that day, the faker had been revealed, and his motives behind the punk were revealed.

It's for that reason that I was a tad bit skeptical of yet another review for The Conduit that has popped up. From what I can tell, this one is indeed the real deal, and it's once again from Nintendo Power. After mulling it over, I'm going to run with this one, but I'll keep tagged as rumor."

The Conduit’s plot may be wrapped in Roswellian mythology and alien intrigue, but it’s no conspiracy that this summer’s most anticipated FPS is available only on Wii. Sega and the team at High Voltage are utilizing the Wii Remote and Nunchuk in ways most other developer seem to have abandoned, and the results have thus far impressed the hell out of us.

Until now, details on The Conduit's audio has been a mystery. Today SEGA announced that Rick Nielsen, Cheap Trick's founding member and guitarist, would be helping to compose the audio.

From SEGA:
"Nielsen, who has penned and performed such hits as I Want You to Want Me and Surrender, is known for his distinctly powerful riffs and for his signature five-neck custom guitar and crowd-pleasing live performances."

"We were very excited to get the chance to work with Rick on The Conduit," said Eric Nofsinger, Chief Creative Officer of High Voltage Software. "Even though he's known for driving rock guitar, he was able to provide great ambience and textural qualities that perfectly fits the mood of the game and helps it become a truly unique experience."

"I hope these lunar notes float with you," said Rick Nielsen. Listen to a sample of Rick's music for The Conduit here.

"I don't think that previous Wii FPS titles have made a compelling argument that the pointer and Nunchuk belong in the discussion. With The Conduit, we think we absolutely belong," he told CVG in a recent interview.
Nintendo was tight-lipped about E3 and the third party offerings were slim as usual – in other words, there was no respite from the casual flood in sight. ...

Though, while that is true, core gamers might not be the only group that will be interested in picking up the game. Lead designer Rob Nicholls of High Voltage Software believes that The Conduit "will appeal to quite a few casual players."
Well, they have just sent the administrator of The Conduit Information Center an e-mail confirming their claim.

The website contains all of the information released on a game until today in an organized fashion making learning for newcomers less of hassle. And the forums contain dedicated fans with useful insight for the game. It good to know that some developers still care for the hardcore Wii consumers.

"High Voltage Software has received heaps of attention for "The Conduit," a hardcore-focused shooter designed from the ground up for Wii.

"The Conduit" will support both the Wii MotionPlus accessory - they just received development kits - and the "Animal Crossing"-linked WiiSpeak."
It was explained that the decision was partially due to the fact that the Wii is very limited from a storage standpoint. However, Nicholls also added that although DLC will be absent from the first game, High Voltage would consider it for the sequel (most likely if Nintendo created a storage solution at that point.)

It was announced today that Diego Stocco would be scoring The Conduit. His listed credits included Soul Calibur IV and Transformers, and many took that to mean he composed music for the titles, but after contacting High Voltage for clarification, this is actually not correct. Stocco was involved with producing the sound libraries used for these titles, and also contributed to the trailer music. In any event, The Conduit should prove to be a great addition to the Wii library, and the music by Diego Stocco should be a hit.

The Nintendo Wii may be a family-friendly console, but that doesn't mean that sci-fi first-person shooters can't make their mark on the system. Shooters fans look to the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for their gaming fix, but High Voltage's The Conduit is shaping up to be a solid competitor in that genre, with great visuals and the appeal of using the Wii Remote to move your target reticule rather than managing two analog sticks. We went by the Nintendo booth at the Penny Arcade Expo 2008 to get some hands-on time with the upcoming shooter.
