Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Warning: Smash Bros doesn't work on all Wiis

Nintendo publishes website to offer fix for faulty consoles

Certain Wii consoles are unable to play Super Smash Bros. Brawl correctly, according to a website recently published by Nintendo.

"Super Smash Bros. Brawl utilizes a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity," reads the website.

"A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive."

Nintendo advises that you return your console to the company for specialised cleaning. There is no cost for the cleaning service and it won't affect your saved game data, although there is a chance your virtual console games will be deleted for some reason.

The repair offer is only available for United States residents, so if you imported an American console and are experiencing problems with the game, you might as well throw the system into the rubbish bin now, as we're sure Brawl won't be the only game to use a dual-layer disc.
