Some owners of US copies of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which was released today, have reported that they're experiencing the same errors when playing the game as were first reported when it was released in Japan. Nintendo of America has announced that those suffering from the problem, which is most likely due to a dirty lens inside the machine, will be able to send their consoles in to be cleaned, and has set up a web page detailing the specifics of the situation.

GameDaily BIZ reports that it has received the latest Japanese video game sales data from Famitsu Marketing Data Service covering the month of February (technically the period from Jan. 28 to Feb. 24), and while the overall market was down 7.7 percent year-over-year, largely because of a 24.6 percent drop in hardware sales, software sales did increase 8.1 percent.

For those of you who have been tuned into the new Smash Bros game for the Wii, you probably have heard the rumors swirling around that some characters who were not originally in this game would be offered as downloadable content. Today, Sakurai deconfirmed this rumor along with others.
"Seeing the success that Brawl has had with the Wii remote being playing sideways, I don't think that there are control limitations that keep it from being ported to the DS. But I personally have no plans to do this myself," Sakurai said.

With over 800,000 units sold in its first week of availability in Japan, it was a given that Smash Bros. Brawl would cross the million sold mark faster than any Wii game before it. Sure enough, the game managed just that, as Famitsu.com, citing sales data from its publisher Enterbrain, reports today that Brawl sales reached the 1,082,344 mark on the 10th.
As if Nintendo hasn't packed enough into Super Smash. Bros Brawl already, rumour has it that a new WiiWare channel will soon be launching to provide players with a host of downloadable extras.
Sam's Club (a retail chain of membership-only discount/warehouse club in the US) will be begin taking pre-orders for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They will also be hosting midnight Super Smash Bros. Brawl launch events at every Sam's Club store. In addition, each store will have around twenty Wii's in store at the launch as well. The game will retail there for under $44.
