Nov 7, 2007 As if Solid Snake wasn't enough for Super Smash Bros. Brawl's star-studded lineup, a second Metal Gear Solid character has joined the fight. Give a warm welcome to cybernetic half-blind ninja, Grey Fox! Don't get too excited though; Grey Fox appears as an assist trophy which means you won't be able to play as him. When activated, assist trophy characters will show up and help or hurt the player who summoned them. Grey Fox makes the scene with his ninja thing on whoever happens to ... » Read More

Wii - Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Another MGS character in Smash Bros Solid Snake wasn't enough for Super Smash Bros. Brawl's star-studied roster; a second Metal Gear Solid character, the uni-eyed Grey Fox has joined the fight! But unfortunately you won't be able to play as him...

Grey Fox makes his Smash Bros. Appearance as an assist trophy, which help (or hurt) the player that activates them but aren't playable characters. In this case Grey Fox turns up and does his ninja thing on whoever happens to be in his way (he did chin a Metal Gear Rex after all) and look pretty damn hard in the process.

Wii News from N4G | Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Wii - Super Smash Bros. Brawl - New Smash Bros character listed on voice actress resume Joystiq reports:

"A listing on voice actress Alesia Glidewell's online resume hints that Krystal, who debuted in the much loved (we kid, we kid) Star Fox Adventures, will make an appearance in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Glidewell lists among her credentials for video game voice over and motion capture three characters from the upcoming game: Krystal, Knuckle Joe, and Zero Suit Samus.

We don't know how Krystal will be incorporated into Brawl, if at all; she could be an assist trophy, a stage-centric distraction, a cameo in the single player storyline, or even a fully-fledged playable character. Then again, Krystal might've been cut entirely, or the resume is simply mistaken."

Oct 29, 2007 It looks like Nintendo might be taking a few hints from Halo 3's community features, as after last week's reveal of Smash Bros. Brawl saved films, the company now confirms that a Forge-style level editor is also in the works. You'll be able to construct levels using any of Brawl's 2D backgrounds, then place, spin and drop various bits of scenery to create any number of block and mushroom-filed battle arenas. We think we even spy some Sonic the Hedgehog spikes in one of these new ... » Read More

Wii News from N4G | Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Wii - Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Super Smash Bros. Brawl to include saved replay video It looks like the popular saved replay idea from Halo 3 is catching on. Wii's recently delayed Super Smash Bros. Brawl will incorporate video recording and sharing of brawls and target smash mode. The announcement from the game's creator Masahiro Sakurai is buried in the second half of his latest blog update. The first half mentions target smash mode, something that has been in the past two games, will also appear in Brawl. So, you may have missed the more exciting second half of his post if you didn't scroll down.

Sakurai says that the game will allow you to record and review up to three minutes of replay data. Then, you can send your favorite clips to your Wii Friends. How many times have you played SSB on GameCube or N64 and wanted to preserve a radical explosion or game-ending move that sent everyone else in all different directions? Now you can do just that in Brawl and constantly remind your soon-to-be-former friends of your awesome victory via Wii-mail.

Two screenshots of the video replay are at Gaming Target.

Wii - Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Nintendo Explains Smash Bros. Brawl Delay Super Smash Bros. Brawl was the first in what has turned out to be a number of recent delays, both high and low profile. But while Nintendo bandied their stock explanation of having more time to polish the game to perfection, Perrin Kaplan, their outgoing vice president of marketing in the U.S., gave an additional reason for the delay, one that seems to be a growing trend: getting the hell out of the way of the holiday onslaught.

Kaplan said the following about the new February 10, 2008 release date:

"Sunday is actually a really good launch day of the week for products. And I think we're actually starting to look at the annual calendar differently. The first two quarters of the year tend to be more quiet. But now we've seen some evidence of sales in that period. Other than the holiday quarter, I think the traditional way of viewing it is not necessarily a slam dunk. I think a really good product can be a slam dunk any time of the year."

Of course, Kaplan also said the extra time for polish contributed to the delay, saying "we see it [as] a little bit of a perfection program to make sure the game is absolutely as perfect as Japan knows it can be and it will." But for anyone who has ever complained about the glut of holiday releases -- as if publishers don't realize we like to play games all year round -- it's nice to see the message is being heard.

Wii - Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Smash Bros Delay Could Mean Dark Christmas for Nintendo In this article, Wired writes:

"Michael Pachter, an analyst with Wedbush Morgan Securities, said the delay likely won't have a significant impact on sales of the game.

"But instead of Nintendo being the clear winner this holiday, maybe Microsoft has a chance of keeping up. There's not as much compelling Nintendo content this holiday without it," he said.

Of Nintendo's competitors, Microsoft looks to have the best holiday outlook on continued sales of Halo 3 for Xbox 360, which raked in nearly $300 million in its first week of sales.

Sony will trail in third place this year, said Pachter."
