The Wii includes a function called Wii Friends, but Smash friends will be registered independently. An icon, comment, taunt message, and the connection quality for each Smash friend are shown in the Friend List prior to brawling. Screens and descriptions show the process in detail.
Nintendo have just revealed the US boxart for probably the biggest Nintendo Wii game for 2008: Super Mash Bros. Brawl. Most of the characters in the game are displayed on the box and this should attract more potential buyers. Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be released in Q1 2008 in America.
Another five days of updates, and another five days of no new playable characters being revealed for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's beginning to be concerning, now, that some of the old Smash veterans haven't yet appeared in profiles on SmashBros.com ¿ the Captain Falcon fans, in particular, are about to fly to Masahiro Sakurai's house and toilet paper the place. But most distraught in this past week were probably past players of Ness, who was all but confirmed to be cut by the Thursday post detailing Lucas' all-too-similar special moves.

It looks like the popular saved replay idea from Halo 3 is catching on. Wii's recently delayed Super Smash Bros. Brawl will incorporate video recording and sharing of brawls and target smash mode. The announcement from the game's creator Masahiro Sakurai is buried in the second half of his latest blog update. The first half mentions target smash mode, something that has been in the past two games, will also appear in Brawl. So, you may have missed the more exciting second half of his post if you didn't scroll down.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl was the first in what has turned out to be a number of recent delays, both high and low profile. But while Nintendo bandied their stock explanation of having more time to polish the game to perfection, Perrin Kaplan, their outgoing vice president of marketing in the U.S., gave an additional reason for the delay, one that seems to be a growing trend: getting the hell out of the way of the holiday onslaught.
