As far as publicity stunts go, this is probably the most literal we can think of: get a monkey to play a game about monkeys. Look! He's even wearing a promotional T-shirt.

It's not clear if this is supposed to prove that Wii games are so accessible even animals can play them or that the Wii-mote is monkey compatible, but what we do know is this little fella was shipped into London's Wii house (used to demo games to the media) for a photoshoot,

Super Monkey Ball in motion

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz is looking like a simian-shaped lump of fun in this new gameplay trailer for the motion-sensitive Wii game - just hit the Movies tab above to see for yourself.

Concentrating more on the new Wii-mote-friendly minigames, the trailer shows little of the traditional Monkey Ball puzzle-board gameplay. You will, however, be able to spot one of the newly-introduced stage bosses being attacked by a jumping monkey. That's right, a jumping monkey. If your eyes need a rest from this week's contrast of dentist's surgery-white Wii promo shots and in-your-face action titles, then this fresh tribe of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz screens should be just the ticket.

SMB always seemed an obvious fit for Wii - as we found when discussing the game with creator Toshihiro Nagoshi - both in terms of controls and its breezy, pastel-coloured look.

Featuring tweaks to the core world-tilting, banana-hunting gameplay,

A blitz of bananas and monkeys

We've rustled up a barrage of screens for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, Sega's simian puzzler for Wii, with some great views of the newest addition to the ape action - the enormous end-level bosses. You'll also catch a peek of some of the party games, like Monkey Baseball.

We won't waste time distracting you with words, so point your peepers down and have a peek at this collection of new screenshots.

Instead it's the superb minigames that people have been trying to get their hands on.

We managed to do just that and discovered several ways in which the Wii-mote can be used:

The usual blend of puzzle-based banana collection and amusing party diversions will return, although the motion-sensing capabilities of Revolution's controller should ensure that Banana Blitz will feel quite unlike previous Monkey Ball games, like the one
