Star routes
1) These lines connect the spinny star shapes on planetoids - signifying the routes Mario’s already taken. They end up crisscrossing space, and even seem to connect with that giant central planet. More speculation on this elsewhere.

Atmosphere and clouds
2) This pillar’s actually floating in space - but we’re close enough to the big, big, big planet above to almost be walking in its atmosphere. The likelihood that we’ll be down on the ground at some point is getting higher.

  Wigglers
3) Ah, bless ’em. Still wearing their flowers - and still shuffling around happily until you plant your foot in their back, at which point they ditch the peace-and-love attitude, glow an angry crimson and chase you off their rock.
