We got a cheeky little press release from Hudson today which we thought might be of interest to shmup fans here on WiiWare World.

Do you have what it takes to compete and win Hudson's Top 5 Wii Games along with 16,000 Wii Points?

Note: This appears to only be open to American and Canadian Wii owners!

Two more games join the WiiWare library in the USA today. A cheeky puzzle game from Konami called Critter Round-Up and Hudson's Star Soldier R which is an update of the classic Star Soldier from yesteryear.

Here is some more info from the horses mouth:

Critter Round-Up (Konami, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone ¿ Comic Mischief, 1,000 Wii Points): The critters have escaped, and the barnyard is in chaos! It's up to you to quickly corral the animals in this puzzle-action challenge. You'll have to mend fences in a hurry to keep all the critters safe and satisfied. But the fun doesn't stop with the farmland; more than 50 challenging levels take you to several exotic locations, including the outback, the icy Arctic and more. There's even a series of minigames for when the critters get you down: Snowball Soccer, Predator Rampage, Chicken Catch and Fence Trap. Up to four players can compete or cooperate as the critters run wild. So roll up those sleeves and grab a friend-those critters won't catch themselves.

After WiiWare launched last week with a healthy dose of new titles to kick the service off in style, it looks like Nintendo is keen to settle into a Virtual Console-alike routine of offering just a few new downloads at a time. This week sees the release of Koanmi's Critter Round-Up and Hudson Soft's Star Soldier R.
Indeed, four titles from the Star Soldier lineage are already up on the Wii Shop for 600 points - the best of which (Super Star Soldier and Blazing Lazers) are a must for any ...

Take a look here.

Star Soldier R is the latest title in a series that has graced both the NES and Turbo Graphix 16, before making the leap to the Virtual Console.

It was also one of the most promising games in the launch of WiiWare in Japan. Based on these screenshots, we can almost see why.
