Sometimes, things are better left unsaid. Sometimes, our imaginations are enough. Sometimes, ignorance really, really is bliss.

Remember Darth Vader? He used to be the epitome of evil, the most recognizable symbol of scum and villainy in cinematic history. Then we saw the prequels and learned the awful, retconned truth: “Annie” liked to build toy robots, wear pageboy haircuts, yell cutesy catchphrases and hit on his babysitters.

Sometimes, games are so good we say they're 'good enough to eat'. That's usually not strictly true, of course - DVDs, Blu-Ray discs and the human mouth do not mix. But what if games were turned into candy bars? Now there's an idea.

But that was 18 years ago (yeah, where's the time gone?) and he's been redrawn over and over again to fit new technology. In fact, unbelievably, Sonic the Hedgehog has appeared on our screens in some 50 guises. What’s in a name? Not a lot of thought judging by the looks of things. Given how much creativity goes into even the worst game, it’s beyond perplexing why game makers seem to just give up on picking an original and distinctive title.
