Sonic and the Secret Rings

Wii Sonic name changed

[Wii] Wild Fire now Sonic and the Secret Rings

Friday 18 August 2006
Sonic the Hedgehog's debut on Nintendo's Wii will now be called Sonic and Secret Rings rather than Wild Fire, which was the name that was used at this year's E3.

Sonic and the Secret Rings will be Sonic's first solo outing since the original Sonic the Hedgehog that was released for Mega Drive 15 years ago. It has the blue blur trying to piece together a Arabian Knights storybook by recreating the lost pieces.

The platform game will make full use of the Wii remote. To guide Sonic through the levels you must hold the remote horizontally - like a set of handlebars - and tilt it left or right to steer. To apply the brakes the remote must be titled towards you.

We've already managed to get hands-on with the game at E3 but it should be playable at next week's Leipzig games convention, so we'll be seeing if the name change has affected the gameplay in any way. Like it would.
