What's the most successful trivia game to appear on a video-game console?

It's a trick question.

There's never been a really popular console trivia game. Even popular franchises like "Trivial Pursuit" and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" have been unable to make the jump.

Computer trivia buffs have it better, thanks to "You Don't Know Jack," "Jeopardy!" and dozens of online question-and-answer competitions.

But publishers seem to feel that mayhem-loving console gamers won't slow down for more cerebral activity.

So it's kind of surprising that we've seen three new trivia video games - one each for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and Wii - over the last few months.

Could any of them be as satisfying as filling in that last piece of "Trivial Pursuit" pie during your family game night?
And the EA success train chuffs ever onwards, from The Simpsons to EA Playground to this: the video game equivalent of bingo night at the senior center. You answer questions. You spin a category wheel with the remote. Occasionally you partake in a game to set a wager - a shooting gallery so shallow that it makes the remote synchronising screen look like Mario Galaxy firing on all cylinders. Dull, dull, dull. Localised questions are a nice-ish touch - even if it does result in a ...
Beowulf

Beowulf: The Film will be out in November, and will be sharing a publicity budget with a Game of the same name. The film is produced by Robert Zemeckis (this isnt the last Zemeckis reference in this weeks Trailer Trash - youve been warned), and features an all star cast including Angelina Jolie, John Malkovitch, Anthony Hopkins, Crispin Glover, and others. This trailer for the game, however, stars a sword falling into a puddle over and over while some repetitive-looking ...
Smarty Pants is a family-friendly trivia game for four players, headed to Wii this Christmas. Developer EA Los Angeles has just been granted permission to use Nintendo's treasured 'Mii' avatars, so you'll be seeing your familiar self scratching his or her head at any of 20,000 questions. When you consider that Trivial Pursuit's question count is around 6,000 questions, that's a big number. But Trivial Pursuit doesn't make you dance. This does.

Players take it in turns ...
